Just make sure you make a good template to use for cutting the liner. I simply used a utility knife to cut it out. If you decide to get the roof console, make sure you make room for both.

Good luck!

I haven't done this mod yet but I would suggest using a box cutter with a new blade. Mark your pattern for the cut on the headliner with a fabric marker. Slightly inside the pattern lines so when you're done the pattern will be on the piece you cut out.

Start cutting from the corners inward so as not to over cut (slip). Use a ruller or other hard straight object to get a straight cut and keep the ruller on the outside of the pattern so if it slips it will slip inside the pattern as opposed to outside it. Go slow.

Take pics, post them and good luck.

Thanks for the info. Didn't make it to the dealer yet. Hope to go in the morning otherwise it will be late next week before I get there. It is just a little unnerving cutting a headliner that is only 2 months old but I can't wait for it to be old.

You're welcome. Just think how sharp it's going to look when it's done.

I knew I forgot to ask something. I just check to see if they had them in stock, didn't think to ask the price. I'll find out Monday when I stop by. I have a friend who works at Honda and I asked him to price it for me so I can see if the dealership is taking me to the cleaner or not. I did find a dealer online out in California that was selling it for around $33.00. I'll try to find the link and post it.

The vehicle I was looking for was a 2001 CR-V.

My map lights with Homelink is from a 99 Acura CL. I'd be surprised if the 2001 CR-V was offered with a Homelink unit, especially for 33$.

b17gsr,
You were right. The one I saw on their website didn't include the Homelink. They showed the Homelink version available for the CR-V but they didn't have any in stock. Not to worry, I just won one on eBay for $9.99 w/$9.99 S&H. Stubbled acrossed it by accident. The lister misspelled Acura as Accura so it didn't show up in normal searches. I was the only bidder. Can't wait to get it and get it installed.

You don't know how hard it was to keep quiet about it until I won it. I figured if I mentioned it here that everybody would jump on it. I got lucky no one else stubbled onto it. Now the worst part, waiting for it to get here. I'm hoping they shipped it today so I might get it before the weekend.

Got the light today. Now the fun of cutting a perfectly good headliner.

Are there any pictures with the compartments open?

It looks like the back can be used for sun glasses, what about the front?

The front compartment opens 90 degrees and can easily hold sunglasses, mini-packs of kleenex etc. in a vertical pocket when open. The back compartment is only a small flap which allows access in the horizontal compartment. It can also hold sunglasses in a case etc.

Well I was going to say there were pics here http://www.fitfreak.net/forums/88440-post1.html but all the pics are gone from the post marokero did on his lighting modifications to the console. Since it's no longer on aj-racings site wonder if they'll be getting more of them.

This one won't fit with the roof console, see post #24 in this thread for how the maplight/homelink console without the extra storage compartment uses up almost all available space.

If you're talking about this maplight without installing the JDM roof console, then you're in the wrong thread.

Received the overhead console and installed it in less than 30 minutes. Very easy to do. Be advised there are no instructions, however, the step-by-step instructions with photos by Ben at AJ Racing made it very easy to do. Thanks Ben.

The overhead console looks good and works well.

Looking forward to the JDM center console...does anyone have one in stock for immediate sale?

Jim in Virginia
