Tree Branch + Car = Bad Ending

Tonight I was driving down the road at about 60mph with an incoming storm to my right as the wind was picking up (it hadn't even started raining yet!) this tree branch falls and smacks into the front end It all happened so fast i didn't even think it had hit the front end that hard because it came across the windshield and flew over the car. the branch was pretty solid (judging by what it did to the car) and I'm still trying to figure out how the hell the passenger quarter panel got dented in like it did knowing it was one branch and it hit the hood, grille, and right quarter panel Sorry for the crappy night pics i will post more in the daytime. The damage looks a lot worse in person

Passenger headlight still works but it has a broken mounting bracket so if you touch it it moves a few inches down into the engine bay Drivers headlight seems to be ok cant sell cuz insurance is fixin the car and i'm sure they wouldn't like that. Sorry

Here are some slightly better pics...

Don't know why I would want to but I found the branches that hit me there were quite a few pieces but this is the one I believe hit the hood.

Andy, I am so sorry for your Fit, but count your blessings it did not land on your driver side windshield! You would be looking for some new teeth under best circumstances. Car can get fixed or replaced, life or body parts not.
This puts it in perspective for me. Gravel truck chips and dings are a joke. I'll take them any day istead of this.
Andy, I am glad you are OK. Insurance will take care of the car. See if you can substitute OEM hood replacement with carbon one if you care about them. At least it would be something positive out of the whole thing for the car.

That is so bad but lucky that no one was hurt or you did not wreak the car causing more damage. We've had so many storms here too - darn
that nasty weather!

Hope you get it fixed and fit again really soon.

Cat :x

Yes this definitely was a wake up call for me if I were going any faster no doubt it would have went through the windshield and I had a passenger with me so no matter what it wouldn't be good. I was pissed when it happened but after i calmed down (and smoked a half a pack of cigarettes ) I was fine. I love my car but it is just a car and can be fixed so I certainly am greatfull. Thanks guys for all your concern. On another note ironically my wheels that I have been waiting for for 4 months will be here next week but with no car to put them on But when it's fixed I'll have something more to look forward to so at least there's a bright side

But I guess it shows that the headlights are tougher than the 1/4 panel....

Ouch, my heart goes out to you. Man, if that had been my car, I'd still be crying. Glad no one was hurt.
