No more Crotas. . .
video came out great. lil suggestion, i personally wouldnt attach my camcorder outside on the hood due to rock chip/bugs that might damage the lens. make a mount to sit on the inside of the car.

Very good point!
I agree with you, but this camera is $200 not $1K and I am working on an enclosure for protection. Adding polarizing filter over the lens will produce better white balance images as well as protect the lens!
There is only so many videos you can shoot from inside the car.
Also keep in mind that any dirt/dust and sand blasted windshield will create glare on your video. Camera will also tend to auto focus on the dirt or miniature chips that sparkle making everything else you are actually trying to shoot out of focus.

Ivan, you can turn off the auto adjust on videocameras. But since this a long distance and many different level of lighting, I would A. manually set it for the best all round in hopes that the lighting don't change too much or B. leave it auto with better lens. Of course you about that .
As for protecting the camera, from the environment including light rain, is use a polycarbonate clear and make a box to enclose the camera. With your suction cup rig, you drill holes from the bottom of the polycarbonate and hook it up to your rig.
As for editing program, the one I trend to favor is Premiere (Atm). If you want I can "loan" you my copy.

Jimmy, unfortunately this "toy" does not have ability to turn off automatic focus. It is more of an point and shoot video camera.
I thought about polycarbonate housing, but considering the small size of the camera, I am looking into an aluminum enclosure sold at Fry's for electronic projects. Now that is rock proof!
For software, is your version of Premier capable of HD h264 codec and mpeg4?
Man, you are the man to consult on the subject! You are studying this stuff in college!!! I am deputizing you for the projects! Ha,ha,ha!
Thanx for all the insights Jimmy!

It should, it can handle 1080p , it's part of the Adobe CS3. What it got is Blu-ray support aka it need to handle MPEG2 and H.264, as for MPEG4 they say they can handle it.
Sorry that I can't be too much of a help ATM, I haven't play around with CS3 too much...yet. I'm more of an animation guy, so I'm not too keen on the "live-action" software and etc. If you have question, I can bug the tech support at school about them so feel free to email me.
Edit: I never heard of a aluminum enclosure for a camera, would that block the lens?
