Fit Sport at Auto X, need Stock size rim suggestions

I took my stock 08 Fit Sport to MILW SCCA on Saturday and had a blast!
Needless to say, my stock tires were horrible on the circuit. I was still surprised how my Fit handled at the limit, esp. when my instructor just hit it!

Other than finding a set of stock Sport rims used, what does everyone suggest for getting a set of stock sized rims to use for the track?

I want to stay in the stock class, so upsizing is not an option now.

Thanks in advance,
Rich

if you're trying to keep it inexpensive, i would go with rota circuit 8 or something similarly light weight. maybe falken hanabi wheels. they are also pretty inexpensive.

nope.

there are other threads on this subject. basically it is really hard to find a wheel that is 15x6, with an offset higher than 49mm. The only one I know of is the Sport Edition D4. other than that, good luck finding an aftermarket wheel that is legal for stock class.

thanks for the answers here.

I have been having trouble finding the illusive 15x6 wheel. Looks like I will look for a used set of stock Sport rims.

Are there many other stock Honda or Acura rims that measure 15x6? If so, perhaps that could be an option for me as well.

I remember you to have an offset of something like 48 or more in order to stay in the stock class.

Best option I saw that came out of the "Great Autocross Wheel Hunt" was some Saturn rims that met the requirements and were lighter...

I can recommend the Saturn 'sawtooth' wheels. I've run 4 autocrosses with them now and they work great. Plus, you can't be the dirt cheap price. I paid $100 for all four.

Skimmer,

What is the weight of the saturn wheel alone and/or with tire (which tire?)?

The legal rim must be 15x6 for the Fit sport and within a quarter inch plus or minus for offset (+55mm).

MINI: I'll have to get back to you tomorrow on the exact weights as they're written down at home and I don't remember the exact numbers. But I can tell you the Saturn tire/wheel combo is about 2 lbs. lighter than the OEM tire/wheel. This is with a 205/50/15 Kumho V710 R-comp tire mounted on the Saturn wheel. In other words, not a huge weight reduction, but it's something and it's nice for the price.

As for the specs, the Saturn wheels are 15x6 with a 50 mm offset, so they fully satisfy SCCA stock-class rules. This thread has more details:

You'll want 15x7's with 45 mm offset to mount 195/50x15 sticky tires up front and stock tires on 15x7's with 45 mm offset out back. You can also go with 6mm spacers to effectively have 49 mm offset on your stock whhels for low cost. Just make sure you have 1/2" threads for the lugnuts to tighten on. And of course the stickiest legal tires.
Try to have the front tire diameter a tad less than the rears (no more than 1/4") out back for fastest times with disconnected front antisway bar. Yes, it will oversteer but A/Xers have shown for a long time that controllable oversteering is the fastest way to go. Getting the Fit to rotate in corners so it can exit corners in a straight line from the apex is what you want. The faster exit speeds are the route to winning. The best acceleration is in a straight line not in a curve.
You might want to practice in a vacant lot to acquire the skills to initiate and control the rotation. But you will be quicker.
