warranty safe?

Actually, most companies that sell aftermarket parts that would affect your warranty, should be able to tell you if any given part would void your warranty.
Example:I purchased a performance program chip, and the company documented the product to be warranty acceptable.
Ask and you will see. If they can't tell you then keep lookin.
If you have, or are thinkin about puttin on stretched tires I hope you travel alone, and not in my neighborhood!
Do a little research on stretched tires after all that was the subject right?
Look up all the info you want, the only endorsements you'll find on this are people who have been irresponsable enough to do it.
There are NO tire manufacturers, or tire specialists that will approve it.
There IS a reason why.
Here's just a small sample of sites.

again, any links to your hundreds of aftermarket, warranty safe parts? i didn't see any, and oem honda offered parts don't count, only 3rd party...what about the ls1 cars [vettes, goats, camaros, etc] on the street with d/r's? if it rains, they better not be in your neighborhood! and hopefully they are driving alone! i'll be more then happy to post pics of me, driving through your neighborhood with a car full of people, and 195s stretched over 8 inch wheels...provided you lend the address...i would put 20 bucks against it that YOU couldn't tell i was on stretched tires...funny thing too, if you call Axis, they'll reccommend a 195/50/15 for their 15x8 inch products on certain vehicles...better turn them in!! oh noes!!

also, the car company decides what they deem to void the warranty...whether or not the "aftermarket" company says its safe...they don't have the final say, the car company and automotive department of the dealership does...you could get a tech on a bad day and he would spit on your chip and tell you that its the reason your plugs fouled out and you threw codes, and they won't cover the repairs...

As a BIG disclaimer I might just be talking out my a$$, but this is how I understood the warranty worked in situations like this;

I was under the impression they have to honour the warranty if the defect cannot be attributed to aftermarket changes. For instance if you put aftermarket tires that (lets say for example) are much much heavier than your stock tires and your studs break off (again, this is just a super highly unlikley senario for example only) they probably won't cover it under warranty. However in contrast, if your fuel pump dies there is no possible link between the tires and that component so they have to honour the warrenty. Even if there is a closly linked aftermarket part they have to prove reasonably the modification did the damage or it can be contested in court.

I have heard here in Canada you totally void your warranty if you even touch the Cat converter because of super strict gov regulations on it. Technically the regulations are so tight you can get into trouble even if you replace it with an aftermarket one if you can't prove the old one was damaged and in need of replacement (within a certain number of years on a brand new car). lol, I say technically cause I have never heard anybody getting called on it yet

There is a legal clause about aftermarket parts that if not directly linked to the problem may still allow you to keep your factory warranty.

However....If the dealership wants to play hard ball then...well you are screwed. Don't think that every dealership will honor this...if you do, you are a fool. It will basically be the mercy of the dealership if they decide to keep your warranty or not. Why you might ask?

Well... lets say you have a $500 repair that needs to be done, on the engine (regardless of what part it is) and you happen to have aftermarket parts on your engine. If the dealership wanted to, they could say sorry we are not covering it, your warranty is voided. Even if the aftermarket part did not cause the problem.

Then what are you going to do, if the dealership flat out says NO to your face? Are you going to try and sue them? LOL!!!

The court battle would be tied up for so long and just lawyer fees alone would cost more than the $500 repair. In fact they could fight it longer than you could in court because...well they have more money. lol!!

But even if you stuck with it through the end and won your case in court. Your lawyer fees and time spent taking off work to appear in court would cost you far more than the original $500 repair.

So what it boils down to is...you are stuck with $500 repair regardless if the aftermarket part caused the problem or not. If the dealer so wishes.

I'm not saying don't mod your car, or that I'm against it. Just don't go crying when the dealership says "Nope...sorry"

Yeah that is true, dealers can be your best friend or your worst enemy.

I know here (again, in Canada) If the problem was under 5000$ you could just run it through small claims court, doesn't cost too much to do that here. Like 100$ for the application, you can serve them yourself and you basically represent yourself in court. I have gone through the process once a few years back with a greedy landlord. If you win the losing party has to pay for any extra costs you incur, the application and any lawyers fees that you can prove to the court are directly related. The biggest thing is finding a precedent case similar to yours, but I am sure there must be a good number of disputes regarding vehical warranties.

In any case if you can find a solid precedent case (this should be true in the US too) they would probably just settle instead of incurring more costs knowing they will be ruled against.

I am not sure, does the losing party have to pay for all of the winning parties court costs in the US too?

i just love the ignorance of some people..."oh if its not recommended from the factory it is dangerous and will never work correctly"...go tell that to the vip scene...you'd have to be pushing the car beyond it limits to cause danger with a stretched tire, even then, you would be pushing the limits with a stock width tire and get similar results...its a double edged sword...theres a difference as well for a properly stretched road safe tire, and one that was heated with a blow torch to be trailered to shows...you can't catagorize them all...
THANK YOU!!!!

OMFG! It's a sexy look I wouldn't have the balls to do.
I'll be awaiting the pics in another post of a member about to do it.

Team that up with some nice aggressive rims or even deep dish, lowered car and the bulldog stance and growl is complete. I've seen many German car owner s do that and I bow down to them.

Can't wait!

work euroline dh probably 18 with a DIY camber correction and a sick ass stance.

saw this on the DIY camber. to run a big rim and stretched tire combo, it would only look good with camber IMO

Although its not a Fit, me and my friend are doing this to his RSX-S. Just waiting on tires.
I cant wait to put them on the car.

He wanted something different on his RSX. So we decided to steer away from JDM and go EDM. Wide wheels, stretched tires. May be a first on the RSX. I tell you no one on ClubRSX likes it. That site is full of assholes tho.

Wheels were for his friends Supra. 18x9 in the front, 18x10 in the rears.
