Anyone into stretched tires and wide wheels?

This look is big with the VW and Euro BMW crowd, and I am thinking of going with this look for my own Honda Fit, since my Noblesse kit is getting on the car real soon...

And if you think this is unsafe, just look at the dudes who drift their cars in D1, they've run stretched tires for years....

Just a quick idea, I am thinking of running the Work Equip I or III in 15x8 +25 A disk up front and 15x8 +10 O disk at the back with 195/50/15 Advan Neova.

Currently I have 15x7 +40 front and back, sooo boring...

dude, thats dope. can't wait to see the noblesse kit on. i wanna do that to my car too with ssr sp1 16x8 +0 offset all around. runumhard!!

And you know this from personal experience? I've owned and driven VIP cars for many years and most of them have some sort of stretched tires. Actually, now that I think about it, 195 series tire on an 8" width rim is hardly a stretch at all. I've seen some japanese fit putting on 165 on 7' wheel! Not to mention the fact that the vw crowd and the bimmer crowd have done this for years.

As a final proof, let me reiterate what I said originally that the D1 drifters have been running stretched tires for competition and no one abuse their tires more than these guys!!

never been a fan of stretched tires.. I have heard Kuhmo are good for it due to stronger sidewall though. I think it looks funny, plus I don't run 8"+ wheels for it to even look cool.

Hate it... Not your car. I dont think it looks bad though. Ive seen some really nice wheels tires and they look great stretched. Sometimes its the only way they will fit on the car.

Im a HUGE fan of VW/Euro cars and the owners. Coolest people you'll ever meet. They have the weirdest, ugliest, craziest style. And it always looks SO DAMN GOOD.

I still prefer beefy wide tires. Heheeeh!

Wheels and tires look good on the Fit. Needs to be slammed. Only way stretched looks good IMO.

The first car I ever modded was my ginster yellow 1998 GTI VR6 and this was way back before the folks over in the US start putting "poke" or stretched wheels on their ride. They thought 17x7 was ridiculous! I kept on posting pics of stretched bimmers and vws from Germany, Belgium, UK, etc to vwvortex.com and all of them always have similar comments like "that's dumb", "u gonna kill yourself", "let me know what happened when you blow your tires when you turn a corner at higher speed", "good luck with potholes and bumps". Then I left the US, and suddenly stretched tires are all the rage at vwvortex heheh...

Anyway, I bought the 15x8 Work Equip III with +20 front A disk and +10 rear O disk. I am going to "mildly" stretch these on 195/50/15 Advan Neova, do some MAJOR fender work and dump it.

Euro Fit! Dare I say it????

BTW, the red car I posted above is some Japanese dude's car out in Japan. That's not my car. And that's not even the wheels I am going for....but he's got similar fitment on his ride. But I am going even lower offset than him. Gotta do the Euro look justice...

i would love to see some poke and stretch on these cars and the Yaris. they're perfect japanese candidate for the euro style. I've always been a fan of stretch, you might look into some Falkens as they tend to run narrower than what's stated.

common wheel the jap use. NKB cup 16x9, unsure about the offset tho

I have 15x7 +25 offset too bad the 7" does not provide 195 a stretch might try 185/50, your setup will look gokil bos! lol.

no matter which forum i go be it euro/japanese you're going to always get extreme opinion on the matter with regards to running stretch rubber. I can say from MY experience that i havent had any problems and a lot of my friends havent had any problems either. To their own...just dont call it stupid just because you dont agree w/ it.

Once again, man, not that I am discounting what you are saying or anything, it's just that what you said is unproven. Name ONE guy you know who's gone off the road, got into any sort of accident because he was running stretched tires.

I, for one, haven't met any. And like I said previously, almost ALL my previous rides have run some sort of stretched tires with no problem. Ok, the ride got a bit harsher coz the rubber got stiff, but the telltale signs of the car being "loose" or whatever have never been present.

I was quoting the "drift" thing NOT because I want to turn the Fit into a drift car, but to make a statement that these driftorz (pun) are running stretched tires in the "most extreme conditions" possible - which translated into daily driving, SHOULD be pretty safe. Yes, they change tires every 20 minutes, but do you also make your car do donuts non stop for 20 min? NO. My point is if those guys can run this stretched style that extremely, I am figuring that it would be safe for MILD daily-driven use. Heck, we all know the Fit won't be winning any car races anytime soon....

looks cool... That's probably why every tire companie determine
the min and max rim width for each tire they make. It's not
because of BMW guys doing it that it's not dangerous...

OH YEAH! You think you don't void your factory warranty puttin on those shoes? WRONG!!!
If you end up with any steering, alignment or shock /strut issues your on your own fo sho!

you realize putting any wheel or tire on there other then factory can cause the warranty to be voided if a steering/alignment/suspension issue comes about? Your statement just shows ignorance...unless you plan on keeping your car completely stock, 99% of all aftermarket parts could be flagged for terminating your warranty...just an fyi...

besides, who here would be that big of an idiot to take a modded car back in to the dealership to get warranty work done? they would terminate your warranty on the spot...a smart person, if they wanted to play the system, would remove all aftermarket parts THEN take it to the dealer...

NO! actually you are wrong. there are hundreds of aftermarket accessories, wheels tires, shocks, exhausts, intakes,air filters, plugs, oil systems, hoses, etc, etc.that will NOT void your factory warranty.
You just have to be smart enough to do the research, and not so ignorant as to add on accessories that not only void your warranty ( if you care ) but have been proven unsafe.
Why do you think that anyone in the automotive industry, or any tire specialist will advise against stretching tires to fit oversized wheels, because they DON'T want to sell you wheels and tires. NO! Because if they are reliable, responsible professionals they will not install them. What you do to your ride is your biz, but please excuse the rest of us who think about safety.

theres a difference between "street legal" and "warranty acdeptable" parts...maybe a link to the hundreds of parts that effect the motor/drivetrain/suspension that are warranty safe? i've never heard of any aftermarket company displaying a "warranty safe" logo on a part...street and smog legal, yes, but that doesn't mean they won't void your warranty...
