I have installed Volk Racing TE37Cup forged wheels (by Rays) size 16", offset +35 and they fit nicely, comfortably on my 05 helios yellow Jazz VTEC GD-3 Matic. Suspension is combination of stock springs and only rear Boge (for Mercedes Benz) shocks, while retaining stock shocks in the front. Pic will soon be posted.

Went to the build your own site, and saw the HFP 16" wheels are $836. $209/wheel not bad, considering fit is guaranteed. Unanswered questions:

1. Installation costs?
2. Tires extra?
3. Do they just throw the bare rims in your trunk and say, "have a nice day."??

I actually think I would prefer #3 to be true. I could pick my own tire, and I would still have the 15s for inclimate weather tires.

Any thoughts on price, etc?...

Since we're on the topic of offets and such. Which would be a good offset for 17" wheels? The wheels I want only come in 17"+.

I'm going to assume +32.

actually, offset doesn't affect on whether the spokes will hit the caliper or not.

Tires and Wheels with offset less than +38 will scrub your inner lips of your rear fenders.... So, stay within +38 to +42.

I can only put my 16" Volk Racing wheels (offset +35) on safely after I cut the inner lips of rear fenders.

it will

my EVO Regamaster can be put on a Toyota Echo, but once the car started rolling and the caliper floated, it hits the wheels...

that's due to the shape of the spokes though. not offset. offset just the distance from the hub mounting surface to the centerline of the wheel. if you had -20 offset or even +40 offset, your caliper will still hit the spokes if they are shaped wrong.

Volk Racing TE37 Cup Wheels!

I saw these wheels on mightyjazz's car and love them! However, I'm having a difficult time finding a US retailer who carries them - can anyone here help? I'm not on a critical time frame here (I don't pick up car until mid-May and then will need to save to start modding), but I would love to know how to get my hands on these wheels now.

Any of our lovely vendors want to help me out?

I would run 205/45R16. You have the most option in that size as well.
If I can help let me know.

I have seen people in Japan using staggered setups on FWD cars but of course there backwards to the traditional RWD staggered setup. Instead of having bigger wheels/tires in the rear its in the front and smaller wheels/tires in the rear. But its not as extreme as a RWD setup can be. Its usually 205 tires in front and 195 in the rear and the wheels might be 0.5" wider in the front then the rear.

As for it being useful, on the street no it wouldnt be useful but on the track yes it can serve a purpose the same way it does for a RWD car. The bigger the patch of tire laying on the ground thats powering the car the better traction your gonna have. It applies to any drivetrain layout, FWD, RWD, MR or RR.
