I would say there are a few things you can do. You can run more negative camber and roll the fender lips. You can also go with the 205/40R17 tires. Any of these things could solve the problem.
Just adding my info, 16x7 MB Motoring Five-X wheels 40mm offset, 205/45-16 Yoko AVID H4S setup does rub in back over medium sized bumps. Stock suspension. Need to look into fixin this asap.

You can put up to 17" wheels with rim width up to 7" and 42 mm offset unless you lower then its 45 mm offset. Tires up to 205/40x17, 205/45x16, or 205/50x15.
Rod doesn't mention his wheels offset but I expect they are less than 42 mm not dropped or 45 mm dropped.
Our guideline which has proven successfully mounting numerous aftermarket wheels/tires on Fits without getting interference:
1. Choose a wheel with min 42 mm offset if the Fit isn't dropped
2. Choose a wheel with 45 mm minimum offset, but not over 48, if the Fit is dropped.
3. Rim widths up to 7" are fine on wheels above..
4. Tire section widths to 205 are successful with wheels above.
5. Wheels up to 17" work well if you hold to the above and below. 17" look really well in my opinion but thats not a guideline.
6. Do have your overall tire diameter hover around 23.5". Tires like 195/45x15 have a diameter of about 21.9", which means there not only is a speedo and odo error of 7.5%, you have reduced your ground clearance by 3/4". If you lowered too hope you like leveling roadbeds and ramps.
Cool ain't always competent.
good luck.
Rod... 40 mm. Just 0.080" too little.
Ah, thought so. At least you'll have the least amount of correction though I don't recommend the negative camber bit as my measurements say that woul result in too much negative camber. Being honest there isn't much you can do except rolling the fender lip narrower tires or 42 or more offset wheels. Rolling the lip (we've done huimdreds mostly for race cars) and rust and resale values are to be considered. One sales manager told me that seeing any kind of crimped fender lips automatically reduced a trade-in value by $2000.
We have considered grinding the corner of the tread for one poor waif who showed up with 38 mm offset wheels and 205/45x16 tires on a dropped Fit. But thats as far as we got. And no, we didn't sell him a newset of wheels/tires; he did sound like a bag of loose marbles driving away.
In your case Rod, you may get away with just grinding the fender lip by 2 mm. That won't noticeably affect the looks of your Fit.
thanks for the info. It just sucks that the package was sold to me as something that fits, and when you get any rub at all to me that would not be considered fitting.

i have a 08 fit. and i live in vermont and it rubs all time time with my 17x7. i found that the rubbing was coming form the fenders in the wheal housing so i took a grinder and belt sander to my 3 week old car and sanded the mofo down about less than half an inch. it makes no noise i won!

You must have balls of steel. I can't see myself grinding on a brand new car like that...were you just hoping it would work or what?
If you are still having some rubbing you can always roll the fender lips and try running more negative camber. This should give you the clearance you need.
Jim,
New Fit owner here...what is this "rolling of the fender lips" everyone keeps talking about?

If you feel the rear fender where the wheel is you will feel a 1/2?? lip what people do is fold "roll" the lip to the fender so they have more clearance for wheels. Very common now for people who run wheels with large width and low offsets
