I've been reading this thread for a while now. My GD3 is lowered on tanabe GF210. so what I'm assuming is if I put 205/45/16 tires on my 16x7 /w +42 offset rims, it's rub city? If I put 195/45/16, it's still rub city but only the "suburbs" of the city? Does the 195 width work with my setup? If it rubs, how much does it rub?
im runnging on 16x7 Buddy Club Sf P1 Challenge with 205/45/16 Nitto Neo Gen and so far no rub at all....but it could be that im on Skunk2 springs...if anyone can varified that the Tanabe max drop springs are lower....then i guess it gotta start saving $
I would say they could have a problem depending on the tire. The 7.5 width and the 40mm offset is a little aggressive. You would need to stay on the narrow side for the tire.
If I can help let me know.

Hi Jim, I have some feedback for you for the Tirerack website. Hopefully you find the comments useful, they are intended in that manor.
Why does the tirerack search engine for Honda bring up rims that potentially may rub and not the optional offsets that are available? For instance for the Honda Fit Sport I see 18x7.5" rims coming up with a +38 offset... seriously if somebody trusts that they are going to be very upset when thier rims arrive and the tires grind into the wheel well.
At the same time I know for a fact you guys carry rims with higher offsets that would work better for the Fit, yet the application does not pick them up. It shows you the matching model of the rim, but the lower offset instead of the option to choose a higher one.
It would be better if you could search a rim based on specs (such as weight, bolt pattern, offset, width) in addition to the "match my car" application right now. I know that there are a lot of people who just use that application as a quick match which is fine, but there is nothing for people who are looking for specific applications.
To be honest I much prefer the www.1010tires.com website search engine for rims over tirerack.
It has hurt your business in the past beceause instead of pulling the trigger on picking up a set of rims from Tirerack I have instead got them elsewhere before simply because I don't want to go through the hassel of phoning in, seeing if you have the rims available in a higher offset (which the manufacturer has spec'd on thier site) & all the hassels of placing a phone order. I don't have problems ordering tires, my last set was from tirerack. I used your tire application to find the width & size I needed.... the tire search is very functional.

I would like to put some alloy wheels on my jazz its an o4 it came with 14 inch steel wheels with 175 65 tyers on.
dose any one know what the sizes and widths of wheels i can fit to it with out them rubbing on the arches or the insides
You can fit up to 205 width tyres on 7" wide rims 15, 16, or 18 with not less than 42 mm offset retaining stock suspension.
Ideal is 45 mm with 205/50x15, 205/45x16, or 205/40x17 tyres.. your pick.
Pay attention. There will be a quiz later. And you'll pay the bill.
The tire size you would want to use would be a 205/45R16 for those wheels. You should be fine but always test fit them before driving. Every tire is slightly different in size and some are wider than others. Alignment has something to do with clearance as well. I would say you should be fine though.
All of the applications that we list do fit the car. If they are not listed on our web site something about them doesn't work. If you go too high of an offset they could rub on the inside. We do brake clearance and wheel well drawings on all new cars. The wheels will list are what we have that work. Some of the applications are tight and depending on the tire you use may need a fender lip roll. We list those type of applications because some people want to push the limits for either looks or performance.
Our web site has been rated the best in the industry. If you ever have any questions you can always email or give me a call as well.

As I was mentioning above it picks up rims I know for a fact won't work. An 18" rim with a +38 offset is going to rub like crazy on the Fit.
Another example is I was looking at the SSR Type F wheels, offered in a 4x100 15" size with +48 according to the SSR website... doesn't show up on the search at TireRack. Why not? Instead I get the +42 option showing up.
My main point is it seems like the application filtering is not setup properly for the Fit on Tirerack.
I would feel better if you could see all the options in stock when you click on a specific rim. It is kind of frustrating getting locked into one option by the program.

I purchased 195/55/15 tires (Yoko S-drives) from your company based upon your recommendations on my setup. They are on my car now and the rears are rubbing alot. My setup is 15x7 with 38mm offset and Progress Springs. What to do now?
The tires are still like-new except for where it's rubbing.

Yikes, even with 195's?
You could try running a lower profile, failing that you are looking at either fender rolling or cambering out like crazy (see Felix's Fit, lol)
Because you are already at 195 for width, really to fix it you have to get rims with a higher offset.

The problem with running a lower profile tire is it throws off the speedometer, odometer and gear ratio. You also end up with a bigger gap in the wheel well. Try the alingment and you should be fine.
There are adjustments in rear? I took it back to the shop also thinking that a slight adjustment in the alignment would help. But the shop was reluctant to do such and preferred I get the fenders rolled. I prefer not to get the fenders rolled but if that is my only least expensive alternative, then I suppose I have no choice?
^^^ Yeah if you don't care about how your tires wear or have tires that are designed to be cambered out (I think Nitto makes ones specifically for this type of application)

I know what you are feeling man, I went through the same thing with a set of 17x7 +42 rims. I eventually had the shop take them back because clearly they were rubbing even though they said it would be fine. I ended up with a set of +45 rims instead which made a world of differance.
There is a black tab in the rear, I think that is probably where you are rubbing. You can shave it right down the screw pretty safetly, mine was shaved about 2 years ago and is still fine. Some people are finding this helps to reduce the rubbing if it is just minor.
I looked at rolling the rear & front fenders on mine as well, it isn't that easy because the bumpers are plastic and it may end up not looking very good. I was going to have a proffesional place do it and after one look the guy said "well you can do it if you want, but I don't want to be responcible for f---ing up you car"
