Should I replace stock fit tires (dunlop on base model)

I just test drove a fit and loved the car minus the tires. On a gentle hill start I spun the tires for about 2 feet and accelerating throught a corner I felt the tires start slipping. Right now I am planning on the first place I drive the car being the tireshop and getting better tires. Has anyone changed their tires and had good (or bad) experiences with certain tires? I am looking for a good dry and wet tire with a dedicated winter tire.

I do know that and I was hoping to hear from some people about how their tires performed in a few hundred miles. I looked their rating up on tirerack and they rated very poorly on the "would by again" scale so...

probably not.

I have never kept stock tires on any car I have owned. I have always found them to have poor quality overall or at least in their price bracket. The last car I had has stock tires on it priced at 175 a piece which competed with (and performed worse than) tires selling for 80-90 a peice. Then there is always that annoying the crappier the tire the longer they tend to last business.

rabbitron will become famous soon enough
i'm not crazy about the tires that came on my base fit 1200 miles later even, but i wasn't expecting much from 14" economy car tires with high sidewalls....i'd wait to upgrade to at least 15" wheels before choosing a better tire. not that you can't get a good 14", but the stock size isn't going to make for a great performer....

From what I've read, the Dunlops won't last you much further than 30K miles. If you're putting a decent amount of miles on the car, you might as well save some cash and use them for that short period of time, then replace them at maybe 25K. That's my plan, anyway.

I've got about 4K on mine right now. I've never had a problem with slipping (except in the snow) but I'm not a very aggressive driver, either.

Well, I'll have to agree with that... but it's only cause I drove hard and did occasional canyon "cruises". I got my car serviced regularly and they told me my tires were bald at around 15k... nd I kept them until about 22k... and they were super bald by then... I was hydroplaning at about 65 on the freeway in the rain... haha

I don't that they are that bad. Considering what was on my Element when it was new. The Donlups rock. But I did replace them when I got new wheels. I am planning on using the DOnlups for winter only.
