If you dont have calipers front and back dont do it plus most people dont clean and prep them right and the paint starts to chip and peel eeeeeewwwwwww. Plus have you ever seen anybody who has done them then decided that they would do the drums in the rear to????? Now thats just nasty

I painted mine (front and rear stock) red to match the car and get compliments ALL the time. It set the HFP wheels off real nice,,,if I could remember my password to photobucket i would show ya all how nice it looks,,,
I have a can of blue caliper paint sitting around, still have yet to get around to it. However, my aftermarket pads are red, seems to catch everybody's attention
Black unless you are sportin some nice 4-6 piston calipers in front and rear. My last car was a 07 wrx they came stock with some nice red 4 piston brakes--miss the look---but the fit is more practical for us and still really fun to drive.

I beg to differ,,,,
now look at the rear with black drums,,,,BORRING!!!!! (sorry the fronts wern't done yet)
come on admit it,,,,if it looks good with the bling $2000.00 , six piston jobers, it looks good with the stock calipers,,,,just cuz you know the technical difference dos'nt change the fact that it LOOKS GOOD. Even the drums painted red set off the wheels nicely,,,,,

Reason: add note
that's kewl but I gotta ask,,,,,
is it the fact that the drums are red or the fact that they are drums ? can you HONESLY say the black drums look better then the red ones?
To be honest, unless they're like 6-piston Brembos, Wilwood, etc., stock calipers and drums are the last things I want to show off. Plus, it takes the attention away from the rims and looks cheap . I leave mine stock and paint the drums matte black to slow down rust build-up.

so you have made my point for me,,it's more about WHAT you paint.....if it cost a wad you want to "show it off" ...
if it's just plain jane then you think it "looks cheap" to paint it,,,
for most of you it seems to be a matter of paint the "bling" to show it off, and not actual asthetics cuz I get compliments all the time most of them are from people that know NOTHING about what kind of brakes they're looking at,,,they just like the way it looks and to heck with breaking some ricer rule about only showing off the high dollar stuff

I agree 100%, black or nothing. Painting stock calipers is on par with cutting springs or any other ricer taboo in my book.
iNHBP with red h badges, i painted my front calipers to accent the badges. im happy with how it looks and i have gotten numerous compliments on how all of the red on the exterior of my car really makes it pop.
i think you should do what you want to your car and not care what others think because in our world there is always going to be positive and negative comments. you have no reason to be ashamed of what you have. lets face it we all drive 90-100HP sub compacts and in truth unless your car is strictly for race use big brakes are not neccessary and i think the people who go out and spend 4k on a BBK for a garage queen are plum crazy!
im sure seeing 13+in rotors and huge 6 piston calipers in some outrageous color (spoon is bright blue, brembo usually red or gold, project mu is some wacky turquoies, ksport is burnt orange) on our cars looks more rediculous to most motorists than a stock caliper that is painted does.
thats just my 2 cents on the topic

Yep, do what you want... if someone doesn't agree and you still like it, don't let it change your mind. It's your car. What's stupid to one person is great to another and vice versa.
For me, I wouldn't paint them and would rather upgrade the calipers, rotors, lines, etc., but it certainly wouldn't be to show off.
