Shock selection.

[Please take into account I know nothing ]

Hi,

I've picked my wheels. Going to be 17" Konigs.

Now I'm looking for a conservative spring. The Tanabe NF sounds like the best for me since I don't want to sacrifice ride quality as much but would like some better handling. The Swift Sport Springs also look appealing but not sure how much they drop. If anyone else has a recommendation for a conservative drop, with NO chance of rubbing, please let me know. I plan to have a 09 Fit Sport with no other mods besides wheels, springs, shocks for now. Maybe in the future I may add a body kit.

It's been recommended to change shocks as well when changing springs. How do I go about picking the appropriate shock?

Also, how much does labor usually cost for spring and shock installation? Will any body shop do it? NYC here.

Labor depends on the shop... As for springs people will say they will damage your shocks. True but not right away. I've seen people running springs only on their cars with stock shocks and lasting over 50k on them and climbing... I believe tanabe gives you good handling and doesn't drop the car too much.

If you're going to spend money on shocks and springs.. i say you might as well go for whole coilover set and call it a day. but then ask yourself do you really need coilovers? Are you even going to track that car or anything... If it's just for looks and DD I would stick with springs and save some money.
