Dust shield removal question

Apologies if this has been covered before.

I am replacing the brake dust shield tomorrow since it is all bent to heck on the driver front side and scraping the rotor. I found this out the hard way when doing pads/rotors and the old rotor had just been ran so much a groove was in it from the shield now, thanks previous owner. I have changed these out before on other vehicle's and it was simple bolt on and go procedure basically. I read that these require the removal of the hub in order to access on this car. Okay straight forward enough, but is the spindle nut one time use on these?

I spoke with a Honda parts guy locally and he said I can re-use it. I am leaning towards he is wrong since I have always been told otherwise for other cars and have always changed them with the removal of the hub. Long post over, thanks for replies!

don't really need one except to block the ball joint from the heat... but yeah, they're cheap enough
