So *IF* we get the $600 from the government, I think I'll spend it on making my 2007 MR/MT Sport happy. Not quite sure what exactly what to do, though. Currently it is 100% stock. I don't want it lowered too much - I go over speed bumps every week and I don't want to trash my car. As for other cosmetics, I would want to do some tint (I'm thinking 5% below legal limits just to be safe). I don't know what else to do. I've never modded a car before, so be patient with me!
Performance-wise I don't want much. I'd like to keep gas efficiency up, but I wouldn't mind a bit of a boost in power.
So...with $600 (maybe a bit more out-of-pocket), what should I do? I am completely open to any and all ideas for the car, so have at it!
Don't ask us, you decide. What does the car need? What is it missing. For starters, I know your car is missing a dead pedal. I for one will not pay $50 for a dead pedal because I'm a cheap ass. $600 can be used in many ways. You can spend half and save the rest for a larger purchase or you can save the whole six hundred for a real large purchase. What do you enjoy the most about your car? Is it the style/speed/handling? If you wanted more power you could save up the $3,500 needed to get the Kraftwerks Super Charger Kit. Your basic bolt-ons don't do much. IMO it's not worth the money to spend $300 on an axle back exhaust when you can just take off your muffler for free, gain the 25 lb weight reduction and have a sweet tone to boot. If you wanted to improve the style of your car, you could go out and buy a new bumper from Mugen, but that's more than six hundred. I for one "love" the handling of my Fit. So I started with some decent wheels and tires, Progress drop springs and rear sway bar. Now I enjoy driving my car so much more.
The only reason I responded to your thread is to guide you in a direction that you choose. You should care less what others think.

Thanks Mojo. I get what you are saying - I don't really *care* what others think, but I'd like ideas. I've looked around the site a lot and looked at pictures to find what I like, and read about what people have done to increase the performance of the car. My goal here was to get a more focused response and resource within the bounds of $600.
I don't need a dead pedal - I'm fine without it and have no desire for one. My concern with springs is that if I lower the car too much, those speed bumps will kill me. It is something I'd consider, though. Wheels are a definite, but I don't know where it falls into place on my list of things to do. I'm into handling and acceleration, but not so much a higher top speed.
My main issue is I've never done this to a car before and I'm a bit overwhelmed with the options!

How low can I go without getting into trouble on speed bumbs? .5"? 1"?
Thanks again, guys. I've been reading up on the SSI and I think that's a definite. So that + springs (been reading the thread since this morning, actually!) might do it for me to start off with. Would either of the mods void any warrenties?
A lot of people on these boards are happy with the SSI intake. If im not mistaken intakes also increase MPGs too. The remainder of the money i'd invest in strut bars, and other suspension mods.
Would it be best to get bars first, then springs? Or the other way around?
Personally i would go springs first then bars. In the handling point of view springs should be better for the corners while the bars help the stiffness of the chassis which also makes it corner better. But i like the stance of the car with springs over something many people wont see.
If you go the spring/rear sway route, I would buy them at the same time. This way your not working twice on the same thing. I.E. You have to take out the rear springs to install the rear sway.

Oooooooooooook, had no clue. Well that changes things a bit. I guess that won't be an issue if I can convince the fiancee (will be the wife when I do all this!) to let me spend some out of pocket cash. I'd just do both + intake.
window visor...many go with the mugen visors but i personally like the slim look of the JDM window visors. it gives it a nice touch and is also usefull during the hot and cold weather to help bring in fresh air.

personally, what i'm a do with the $600 is jdm armrest and mugen ss. depending how soon we get the extra dough, if i save like $50 a month until it gets here, i could get the mugen shift knob and possibly, if it takes longer, the mugen shift boot as well. and if it takes a really long time i'll even get the mugen pedals.
you should get...
springs - skunk2, megan, or gf210s ss - mugen, skunk2, or h-fit shift knob - mugen, skunk2, hfp drop in - mugen, k&n, or spoon mugen radiator cap & ventilation visors silverstarbulbs
then call it a day.
everything in red$550
and if you're able to save a lil bit before also, you could upgrade to the mugen ss and maybe knob instead of skunk2s, depending when.
