New wheels but no TPMS light?

I got my new wheels and tires installed on my 08 VBP Fit Base today and I didn't have them transfer the TPMS sensors over but even with the sensors removed there is no light on my dash saying my pressure is low. Is this normal? It was my knowledge that new wheels and tires without the TPMS sensor would cause the light on the dash, not that I'm complaining but I was just curious if this happened to anyone else.
