What's up everyone,

I'm interested in getting a 16x7 40 offset wheel for the 08 Sport Fit.

I see that some of you run this size wheel but I also see that there are some of you that run a 205-40-16 and others run 205-45-16 for the same size wheel.

In going onto the tire calculator I see that the 205-45-16 is a bit closer to my original speedometer than the 40 series tire.

Is the 205-45-16 the tire of choice because of it's closeness to the original speedometer reading, or is the 40 series tire better or worse than the 45 series tire? Also I see some people rub and others dont on both sets of tires, which one is prone to rub more if I'm intending to lower the fit.

205 45 16 is the correct size for a fit

 

205/45/16. If you rub, just roll the fenders and use a little camber.

The 205/45x16 tires on 16x7/42 offset wheels haven't even come close to rubbing on the 09's because the tire is 23.26" vs 24" for the 185/55x16 tires and wouldn't be likely to rub on a 40 mm offset 16x7. However, thats not true on the 08's. Smallest offset we got to work without mods is 42 mm offset. Anything lower rubbed somewhere.

 

I just got my rotas which are 16x7 and 40 mm offset. And the tires are 245/45/16R i was told they would not rub. We will see in a week when i get them installed i also have some T1R coils coming in that i am going to get installed

 

I really hope that's a typo because 245mm worth of tread won't even fit your 7"-wide wheel.

If you get 245/45x16 tires on 40mm offset 16x7 wheels to work without rubbing you'll have a miracle.
You not only pushed the wheel out over half-inch, you increased tire diameter on an 09 by 2/3rds of an inch. try measuring with a ruler diagonally from the current 185/55x16 tires 2 and 1/4 inches and see if there is clearance. Its 2.25" on the diagonal not only because of wheel and tire sizes but also for the added width of the tire from 185 to 245mm.
And if its an 08 its hopeless. not only pushing the wheel out over half-inch and increasing the tire diameter to 24.68" the original tire for 08 is only 23.44"."

Nonetheless according to the tire calc the overall diameter from the original 15s on the 08 sport is 23.44 the overall diameter of the 205-45-16 is 23.26. If the overall diameter is smaller on the 16, shouldn't it not rub with the 40 offset? OR is the Offset so severe that it will cause rubbing period?

 

No u should be fine. Are u lowerd?? I am puting on these wheels this weekend on stock springs and than i will post a pic. Than when the coils come in i am installing them and droping it as far as i can with out rubing to much. And than i will post up pics of that for u

 

Question for anyone who may know the answer!

I am getting white rims for my 08' honda fit sport, but i want 16"'s instead of sticking with the 15"'s. My only problem is i can only find the 16"'s with a 42 offset. My question is will that rub at all? or am i really cutting it close?

 

Stock 195/55x15's are 23.44" diameter and you need to stick close to that to avoid rubbing, especially when the offset is below 48.
205/45x16's work very well with no rubbing at stock height on 42mm offset 16x7 wheels .

If you hit bumps or put people in the back you will experence slight rubbing. Generally a +42 offset is ok, try to match it up with falken or BF goodrich tires for best results. If you lower your car there is a good possibility it will rub.

If you do rub you can try the following;
You can either cut away the plastic clip at the rear or try running a 195 width tire.

No I'm not lowered yet! I think I should be fine when the FIT is not lowered. I only worry after I decide what I'm going to lower it with. I prefer coilovers for the adjustability, but springs will do the trick as long as I've measured it correctly.
