T vs H speed rating. What do you have?

I want an H speed rating in 175/65R15. Do you care whether you have T or H?

I don't care in the least. I don't believe I will ever exceed 118 mph with my Fit, nor likely two-thirds that velocity.

If you're going to spend hours at a speed high enough to put so much heat into your tires that they fail, getting tires with the right speed rating won't solve your real problem: that you bought the wrong car.

I don't know what speed rating my tires are. Never have.

The sticker inside the door actually recommends an S rating. I don't even think those are available! (Nor would I want them.)

I usually don't care about speed ratings but more on load ratings of these tires. TireRack a good information on load and speed rating:

Yeah older Fit's were "S" rated unless you had a sport which are "H". I highly recommend go with the higher speed rating like H.

Do you think you will go over 100mph? I tried .. Once. I don't think the poor L15 has much more to give after that! If you happened to live in one of the few areas people drive 85 frequently, sure good idea, but I think at that stage you might really appreciate a more stable car. German car or Ford probably. I don't think the design requirements for a Fit have top speed at the top of them ...

Speed rating has an effect on the tires' handling, even at lower speeds. No, I won't go 100 mph, but that doesn't matter. In the original size for a 2011 Base, there are around three options only. Avid Ascends, Toyo Versado Eco (T rating), and General Altimax HP. Mochelin no longer makes the Pilot Sport A/S in 175/65R15.
Not many choices....

H likely to give a little better handling when cornering . We use GENERAL Altimax RT43 for both '11 + '13 . They are 175/65-15 , H-rated , A.A. Can be purchased for under $75 each ( before tax ) . I think there's a $50 rebate this September . Can be ordered through Wal-Mart .

How do you like those Generals? Have they worked well in rain and snow, and on long trips?

Like them well enough for use of both cars . They did good on packed snow / icey road we live on . They do quite well in rain / wet roads . Would use other car when snow , ice or mix present or in the forecast . They both ride better too . Feels like different vehicle . The long run will tell . Keep them at 35 > 37 p.s.i..
