I also have ceramic window tint, and still its too hot inside.

You should have your local dealership check it out for you. It should be free of charge

48* air is pretty normal for a car air conditioner (thats what my Fit, Xterra, and Subaru all do). Check the low pressure hose, if it's cold at the compressor, the A/C is doing all it'll do. I checked a PT chart for R134a, 45 psi on the low side looks about right for Las Vegas' high ambient temperatures. Do you use fresh air mode or recirculate? Above 90* fresh air doesn't do it for me, recirc. is barely adequate. New R134a car air conditioners just don't do it like the old R12 (CFC) ones.

I guess I'm use to really cold a/c, like on my toyotas, I'm getting 40F out the vents.

It's been 110 the last 2 days here and my fit ac is working great. Do you have your windows tinted? Helps bunches.

First, the obvious... Recirculate w/ fan at max, I assume? Also, temp turned all the way down to the coldest setting?

I find the a/c just barely adequate in the FIT, but when I turn up the fan it seems to work enough to cool down the car.

If you still aren't satisfied, take it back to the dealer and have it checked... that's what the warranty is for.

I have a similiar problem here in Florida. One solution I have done is this. Normally I have the mode on Head/feet...when its super hot outside and in the car and I want it cool quick. Switch to just head and the air output doubles almost triples what it pushes out and that cools the car dramatically quicker. Then ill switch back to feet/head once the car is a little cooler. Hope this helps.

I noticed that Head/Feet setting doesn't cool as fast as just the Head. Don't really feel the breeze at the feet. Same idea. Full blast at head. I don't really feel any breeze at the feet setting.

^ I agree with that, just from all the cars I've had. Full blast coming out of the main vents gets the cold air through the entire car quicker. Also, definitely have to have recirculate on.

Let us know if any of the suggestions help, or if you end up taking it in.

I love getting head... not so much for feet though. Sorry I couldn't let this one go.

But yeah it's not a good as the good old ozone killing R12 stuff. If it's not crazy hot outside, try opening the windows for a minute or two with the air on while you're driving and then close it up, switch to recirculate.. once the inside is somewhat close to outside ambient temp.

My 82 Celebrity didn't have A/C and I did all I could to keep the car cooler.
Park in shade, cover sunside windows with white corrugated, etc.

Remember, your motor is a hell of a lot hotter than you will ever be, be kind to it. LOL

And yes, it does get hot up here in the summer. 91F today.

When the Chevy was losing it's oil pressure I would open all the windows and turn the "heat" all the way up to cool the motor down in traffic. I never had to walk.

We deal with temps in the 90s plus high humidity and CO from traffic, so I always have recirculate on after the initial cool-down with windows open. My car pool buddy likes it cold, and says he's fine when I set on head only fan, max cold and "2" speed -- and this is the hottest part of the day. I have to wonder if all of the Fits heading out of the dealership have properly charged a/c units.

I called the dealer where I bought my fit, they tell me I should be getting 42F out the vents, with the a/c fan on low, and on recirculate.
Guess I may be taking it in....

I have recently had the opportunity to drive my Silver Base MT in temperatures over 100 F. on the freeway (northern California). Air conditioner worked like a charm, adds maybe 100 rpm to the tach. When I put the fan on 3, it was too cold, and I had to move it to 2.

Jimmy,
I live in Havasu so I feel your pain. You've been given lots of good information that you should heed. But for the kinds of temps we have in Havasu, what finally made my AC at least acceptable, is to take the filter out and do without it. To get to it you have to take the glovebox out. (see owners manual). Once out, the AC blows about 40% more air. I hope this helps.

I live in glendale, AZ and we get as hot as you guys in vegas. I usually leave my back windows cracked until all the hot air gets out of the car, it cools the car down alot faster. gl

I installed headers and the a/c did not blow as cold. I insulated the re-fridge line going into the fire wall and the a/c blew cold again(insulation for the split a/c for the home). This might help you 80 and 90 all the time in Hawaii.
