I have been calling Honda every day since Dec 19th regarding this recall and I have been getting the total run-a-round. If your fit was manufactured before November than your airbag may deploy too soon - leaving you at risk for head injury.

Honda has known about this problem for several months and has not yet released it to their dealers for repair -

IIHS News Release

I have contacted the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (888) 327-4236 and filed a formal complaint. They are fully aware of this issue.

Everyone who owns a fit should call to complain. Your life is at stake!

You should also contact your local press about this, and you should call Honda PR spokesman Sage Marie at 310-783-3163. Again, Your life is at stake!

Update on the FIT story

So American Honda FINALLY admits that there is an issue and sends on a "SAFETY IMPROVEMENT CAMPAIGN" notice. I got mine this weekend.

I contacted my dealer. made an appointment, showed up at 7:30am and was turned away because they had not yet received the materials to perform the fix.

I call American Hondas CS line and complain, they tell me that Anderson Honda in PA has the kit. I call Anderson to verify, they say "yes we have it". I make an appointment, show up, and then get turned away again because they didn't have the "stuff" needed from American Honda.

I call Oakland Honda this morning; they have not received the kit either.

Honda sure has screwed up on this safety issue.
