Honda recently launched the their official site for interested consumers to register for updates about the release of the Fit in North America. The picture below is a screen shot of the site.
Its interesting how the illustration for the web page shows a 2 door Fit! and the site mentions that they have a big suprise instore for those expecting just the position of the steering wheel to change.

man i cant wait for these to come out, i have signed up for info. but yea a 2 door hatch would be tiny! any idea what all they are planning to change????
I would prefer a 5-door for ease of access, but the 3-door isn't necessarily tiny. My 1990 3-door Civic holds almost as much cargo as my '01 Saturn wagon.
Two doors or four, I still will want one. I just rented one in Bangkok, and despite having the CVT, it was a hoot. It still seemed bigger than my 81 1500GL, and no matter the number of doors, the platform and dimensions will be the same.I signed up for the email notifications, but has anyone heard engine/trans rumors?
Diesels haven't really caught on in America. First off, gas is relatively cheap here in America. Diesels can cost up to 20-30 cents more than premium gas per gallon. 2nd, diesel has too much particulate emissions.
I dont the diesel Fit will be brought to America. Stay tuned for a hybrid though.
Good point. Anyways, what is the smallest diesel engine Honda makes. The only one that I know of is the 2.2L Diesel. Would be a big engine to fit in the FIT.

I think a hybrid anytime soon would canabalize the model.
Hi! Here in the Philippines Honda FIT is called Honda Jazz. Two variants are available here, 1.3 iDsi and the 1.5 V-tec. Of course the Vtec is the sure winner. Rumor has it that the new face lifted Jazz (or Fit) will come out after the introduction of the new civic here (April). I am eagerly waiting for the model to come because it features the new paddle shifter a la Ferrari.
where is US FIT in relation to Honda Product cycle??
I see sneak previews of new looking FIT's. I go to Autobytel and see preliminary story of a possible FIT Hybrid in 2008. I also see that FIT/Jazz has been around the world since 2001. Honda in the U.S. tends to run their models in 4 or 5 year cycles before their next big redesign. I am getting somewaht psyched about getting a FIT. So, the million dollar question is this: Where is the 2007 FIT in relation to the 4-5 year Honda model cycle. Is the 2007 version on the tail end of the cycle, with a completely overhauled 2008 or 2009 ready to leap from the drawing boards onto the pavement? Please help clarify.
Thanks.
