Wiring for DRLs

I was looking into doing a projector retrofit and LED DRL install on my Fit and needed to find out the best way to wire the DRLs in. I know that they are just a lower-output of the high beams, but I need to find out where the control for that is. I have them disabled right now by pulling out the fuse, so going from the wiring behind the fusebox would be my first guess. Anybody know anything else about this?

BTW, here's a link to what I'm planning it to look like (roandyo's suggestion). https://www.fitfreak.net/forums/3rd-...t-options.html

High beam DRL operation is controlled by the MICU inside the interior fusebox.
I'm not familiar enough with those to tell if you would need to use DRL decoders or not.

Googled DRL LED decoder and got this result
How to Convert High Beam DRL to LED Lights

If I were to just tap a fuse and run a line, I would be using the standard DRLs too wouldn't I? I don't want to use those (they look stupid, imo), so just the LED strips.

no just leave the fuse for the drls out. thats how i have mine setup so it doesnt burn out my projectors. my drls are my demoneyes although u cant see it in the daytime. they turn on with the car and off with the headlights. i use my v3 leds as my drls if i want to along with my halos with a flick of a switch.

Interesting. I'll have to look into that! Although I'm hoping the LEDs won't be on with the headlights, since I'm gonna have blue headlights and yellow fogs.

So basically I'm looking for the function of the DRLs, just a different look to them.

Good point. Relays always seem to be the answer, and I never think of that first. lol
