The only ones who win when a class action law suit is filed are the lawyers who started the whole process. To give the owners of the vehicles an additional 1800 miles is nothing - my Mom was ripped off by Sears and was part of a class action law suit she got a coupon for $10.00 off her next purchase

Odometer class action suit

Did Honda ever correct or will correct this problem in more recently made cars? I just purchased my Fit this week.

thanks,

2007 Fit bought a few weeks ago

Is my odometer off? Am I getting worse fuel mileage? Let me know if you guys think I need to look into this further. I'm not sure of the DOM for mine but I just bought it a few weeks ago. And if I'm getting 5% less fuel mileage -- I'm never going to buy another honda again -- this is something Honda engineers should not screw up -- odometers aren't that sophisticated. it's simple math -- and they probably are doing it just to get the mpg rating up -- which is really troubling.

Let me know. This worries me.

Is my odometer reading more than it should?

I have been driving my fit for 2 days and I looked at my odometer today (without even knowing about this) and I realized that I have not driven as much as it says I have. Is it showing the wrong amount of mileage? It says that I drove 175 miles so far, in two days. That is more than what I have driven so far. I basically drove home from the dealer ship (30 miles) drove to work and back (40 miles) and maybe put another 40 miles on the car. That is it....

I found a very simple solution to this although the additional cost incurred might not be worth it to you unless you are already looking at purchasing wheels. I simply bought 16 inch wheels and instead of running the size that would have the same whole diameter with wheel and tire, I ran a slightly larger sidewall making the entire diameter slightly larger. I checked this on the wheel size calculator and it said that the circumference should be about 2.9% greater than the original circumference. Since they stated that the car's odometer was running about 3% fast this has effectively corrected my odometer issue. Another thing I noticed that this solved for me was the over reacting abs issue many other fit owners have talked about. If you plan on doing this I highly recommend running at least 16 inch wheels as the larger sidewall has a way of making your wheel look smaller. So changing to a larger sidewall on the stock wheel will look funny in my opinion.

is the speedo off as well then?

This is just really disappointing....you'd think Honda engineers could figure this stuff out.

Definitely my last Honda.

2008 Fit

Since the 2008 and 2007 fit are the same car is it going to be affected by this too? Or is it in the clear?

The class action settlement does not apply to Fits purchased after 11/6/06, so I assume the purchasers of 2008 models would not be included.

Checked with GPS- both ODO and Speedo are about 1.5% high. Neither is really a big deal at all.

that sux

this is what makes me upset about this whole thing... it depends on when you PURCHASED your car, not when your car was actually ordered or MANUFACTURED. I had ordered my car in June of 06, and didnt get it delivered until Dec. 12, although it was manufactured in early November. So, I am out of the lawsuit, although my car is probably malfunctional. Pisses me off, but what can I do... lol, I love my car anyway, in spite of the malfunction

Basic: 3 yr. / 36,000 mi.
Drivetrain: 5 yr. / 60,000 mi.

Most of us will probably be long out of warranty before our Fits start having age and wear related failures anyways.

They said the odo was out by ~3% iirc... not 59%!

I bought my Fit in March 2007 - the lawsuit says between April and November 2006. Does that automatically mean that my car does not have the problem?

Just checked my odometer with a GPS it is over optimistic by 1% and my speedometer is actually reading 1 kilometer slower than i am actually going.
I found this out when i was trying to calibrate my Scangauge. This is on an
07 Fit Sport with 15 inch wheels that was purchased in February.

First Post

Lawyers are generally lying arrogant peices of garbage and I usually don't believe anything they say. Is there conclusive proof that this was "deliberate fraud" on the part of Honda or simply an engineering error? What does the actual LEGISLATED LAW mandate regarding odo error tolerance??

How did they determine the sale dates?

Does anybody know how they determined the sale dates that are included in the warranty extension? My Fit was originally purchased in 12/07 (I purchased used with 6K), so right after the 11/07/07 date that is the last included. Having been a dealer, I can't imagine how they tie the included cars to a sale date rather than a build date.
