I just noticed that I haven't posted here.

First year with the car: 24,132 miles @ 44.5 mpg.
Best tank: 54.38 mpg over 484.2 miles.
Longest tank: 506.1 miles @ 49.95 mpg.

The only "mods" (if you want to call them that) were filling the OE Dunlops to max sidewall and mounting my UltraGauge.

I'm looking forward to how it does in year two: I've made a lower grille block, which is already helping a lot. I'm working on a kill switch and the tires are going to need replacing, so it's LRR time.

I do long runs on roads that I know well and generally traffic moves smoothly. Rolling hills are great for hypermiling without disrupting traffic, and sometimes I can do what I need to do without getting on the big highway- not having to do 60-70 mph makes the tank go a lot farther.

My 2011 MT Sport's mileage took a nosedive when I changed tires. I was averaging 39mpg overall on what I assume were the factory tires, but when I switched to Michelin Pilot Sport AS/3 tires (205/50R16 size), mileage dropped to 35mpg. Oh well, these tires grip way better than the originals, and there's no free lunch, right?

Ouch! A 10% drop in mpg? Is the 35mpg over several tanks or just one tank? Maybe it's just a one-time aberration.

Definitely not a one-time aberration, as I replaced the tires in February. Mileage has crept back up a tiny bit -- for a while it was closer to 34mpg.

I get 36mpg solo hypermiling on my commute.

I get 31mpg with the whole family and bags loaded in with A/C-a-blasting and bikes.

and i couldn't be happier with the car! I will never sell this car. never!

JonStewartMill, your tires are taller than stock, you're odo/speedo will be slightly off, this could contribute to your decreased noticed MPG.

That and the higher drag from wider tires and/or diff compound/tread pattern.

And while none of the instruments are going to notice the longer legs while cruising, they're going to notice the effectively higher gearing while accelerating- double whammy when you're measuring mpg.

If you calculate the difference in revs per mile and factor that into all of your mileage calculations you can:
1. Be highly annoyed when you do your logging.
2. Find out if increasing your tire size helped or hurt mileage with your driving style and conditions.

The size difference is less than .5% from stock, so I'm guessing that doesn't account for much of the loss. I'm not sure how much difference the wider tire makes in friction -- isn't the tire's contact 'footprint' essentially the same?

I manage 36 MPG combine. I got 31 MPG strictly city which was stop and go to and from work for a few weeks. I managed a much nicer 40 MPG on the highway doing 80 mph. I have run the A/C non stop since I got this car, it's the summer!

I think I could probably squeeze some more mileage out of it by dropping my highway speed considerably. Also, my commute to work is about 5 miles through town and you can't get there without hitting some lights (even at 5:30 AM).

Do you have a pic of that lower grille block?

I think I'll try that when autumn hits. Thanks for the suggestion.

I've had my 07 for 3 months. I have put on just over 8k miles and have gotten a best of 35mpg. I average between 32-34 mpg on my 70 mile commute through NJ, Manhattan and Queens Ny. I usually deal with stop and go traffic for 15 of those miles. I usually get 290 miles before the gas light comes on.

I noticed an increase in mpg when I took out the dirty AEM cai and put back the factory air box with a clean filter.

31.0 MPG average over 166 full tanks during 49 months of ownership and 48,xxx miles in my 2012 MT Sport.

Best tank is 37.0 and worst is 24.4. I have logged every tank for this car in Gas Cubby despite my wife consistently muttering "neeeeeeerd" at each fill up.

Changed to 205 / 50 / 16 tires during 4th month of ownership (because someone stole two of my wheels). Driven daily all year around no matter the weather here in Boston. Rides on 14 inch snow tires December through March.

Mileage is an even split between city, highway, and back roads. And I engage in spirited driving as often as possible: I love how this car behaves in third gear between 40-60 MPH on tight, twisty roads.

We are a one car family with two working adults (one doesn't drive) and two children under five. We needed a reliable jack of all trades that was a good value. While it was the best choice, I continue to lust after GTIs and WRX wagons and even the new MT Mazda S wagons.

First ever fill up on my 2017 EX. Took in 6.7 gallons. After 291 miles, my mpg were 32.39 in driving around the Portland, OR area.

I just filled up and was surprised to discover that the Honda mileage calculator actually was less than using the calculator. I always figured they would be a bit generous on the mileage. I got 42.1 per Honda and 43.1 per calculator.

I have gotten no more than 42MPG except once when driving along the Texas Gulf Coast from Matamoros to just below Huntsville Texas.. After I did some things I assumed would improve fuel mileage to the intake and exhaust I came to the conclusion that Honda knew what they were doing.. Unless you have forced induction, you won't improve performance figures or performance with larger than stock intake or exhaust systems.. Even with the Rotrex Kit and Weapon R racing intake manifold, and racing exhaust header I have found that an Apexi 2 1/2" exhaust valve I installed to lower the exhaust noise also increases exhaust flow velocity when partially closed and improves low end torque when in traffic.. The size of the intake pipes on aftermarket fresh air intakes also kills intake air velocity and hurts low end and mid range performance as well.. I recently decided to install the baffles in the Vance & Hines exhaust on my Kawasaki 1500 Classic sidecar tug and found the bottom end torque that it was lacking from when the previous owner had removed them.. I'm hoping that Hootie will want to ride in the car now that I don't have to rev it up as much to get the beast moving from a dead stop..

The other factor when wheel/tire changes are made is the weight of the replacements. A heavier tire takes more energy to move it - makes a difference in mileage and acceleration. I recently replaced the 16" OEM alloys/185.55.16's on my '15 Fit with Kosei Racing 14's and 185.70.14's. Knocked the weight per combo down by 14.4 lbs. from 36.6 lbs. to 23.2 lbs. Significant improvements in motion control (like I installed better dampers), fuel mileage and acceleration.

2007 manual, 216k, still averaging around 35mph. Creeps up little in summer and down in winter. I'm the original owner. basically still stock.
Always found it easy to check actual mileage as I usually end up putting in around 10 gallons
