-single trip computer
-weak cargo lamp
-no temp gauge
-5mt sport stereo very slow to scroll through music lists (no % skip ie to jump from A to M)
-no seat height adjustment
-tach should be center, speedo right, and gas on the left

theres a few more tiny nitpicks but overall this car is the cats balls

to all the people crying about the tach being not easily visible.....be men, learn to drive by sound, feel the car, watching the tach is just as bad as texting while driving...

haha im only kidding, I never really looked at the tach until I read all the comments in this thread, it is kinda hard to see when your left hand is on the wheel.

my one complaint is that seat issue that is common with the 2010s the pop noise, etc.

honda should really do a full on recall for that

HA - they did, the license plate...LOL

I can swing it down one handed using the handle, then switch out and go for the plate and push it down in one move. Most times I grab the lid edge and forget about the handle.

If Honda would move the inside handle to the center and make it grab-able it could work.

This is changing with the Fiesta coming over from EU, the Chevy Aveo looks decent, and of course the Fit is nice!

The fiesta has many problems still (it's biggest one being a ford to start with), even if it's probably a nice car, and a good engine/tranny.

when i visited the fiesta they did not have a manual transmission to drive. however, just from the physical impression it is BAD.

tiny rear leg room, tiny rear cargo, nowhere NEAR the versatility of the fit magic seats (seats dont even fold flat), funky "tunnel" gauges, highly sloped center stack, really 1990s-escort-feeling.

and its quite ugly too. very much retains ford Ka blood

i dont get the "euro" hype of thing. in contrast, i rented a ford focus 1.6 zetec in europe. now that by most accounts is a well built car and could be competitive with the fit

That's too bad, as I was hoping that Ford would at least offer a credible challenger. "Escort-feeling" is one of the worst things I can imagine anyone saying about a car.

I was unfortunate enough to have inherited an 80's Escort, which was, without a doubt, the worst car I have ever owned. We used it as a trade in on a Mazda MPV, and about a year later the phone rang. The caller was from a sheriff's department, and said that my Escort had been stolen and recovered, and did I want it back. My reply was, "Absolutely not!" The sheriff's reply was, "Damn, this always happens with those things."

...what about that ATF cooler hose that exploded in the middle of a traffic jam at rush hour 3 hours ago? And wait 2 more hours so that towing make it's way thru to my car! Lucky me, my dealer was still open and agreed to repair the car!

HA Good story. I always thought their other gem was the Pinto.

Hey!

The main reason I got the Fit was BECAUSE I had fond memories of an Escort MT hatchback!!!!

If I had never driven that Escort, I'd probably be driving a Corolla auto or something like it.

Here are mine, '08 base manual owned for two years and change now: 1. Bad on the highway. Partly because I have a base model so no cruise, but also it's a combination of noise, ride, and steering. It is twitchy at high speeds, the ride is bumpy, and it's loud. This is a trade off because the handling is great at lower speeds. I have a feeling even if I did have cruise I wouldn't like driving it on longer trips. 2. Driving position. It's too bad I got an '08 and not an '09 with the telescoping steering wheel - the '08's wheel really needs to be a couple inches closer to you. If I move my seat far enough back to make my legs comfortable, I'm stretching my arms out too much. If I move it close enough for my arms to be comfortable, my knees are bent and sometimes even touching the underside of the steering column. This problem is compounded by the first problem; the twitchy steering requires me to have both my hands firmly on the wheel most of the time, so I can't just chill and put one hand at the 6 o'clock position like with most cars. 3. The clip that holds the sun visor in place is way too tight! I have to pull hard or use both hands to free it. This one's just annoying. 4. Similar vein as the last one, no passenger vanity mirror. So my wife has to steal my rearview if she wants to check her makeup while she's with me! If anything the vanity mirror is more important on the passenger side since the driver can only use it when he's stopped, in which case you can always use the rearview. My wife just got a Nissan Altima which will be our "highway" car. The Fit remains as our city car for getting groceries and so on. And of course since it's my car I'll commute with it. When I got it, I loved it. Since I've been car shopping with my wife, I've started to doubt it. A lot has changed in my life since I bought the car and it doesn't suit me as well as it once did. I might sell it once it's paid off, or maybe I'll keep it until it dies. I don't know. It's not a bad car, just not really my favorite anymore. EDIT: Okay what is going on, no paragraph breaks?

^^ The Fit was really never made for the highway to begin with. It was made for a city life style. But all of ur complaints seem to be just you. As i have driven my Fit from San Deigo,CA to Tampa,FL than to Houstan,TX. Many times i take road trips in my Fit. If u think the car is load u have never been in a sports car. The mirror buy a jdm visor like i did or just buy a mirror at autozone and double side tape it $5 fix for u. You should always have both hands on a steering wheel for safety reasons so you can react in a fast situation. You must be very tall i know guys that are 6ft3 and can fit with out a problem in the Fit the seat does slide back. Or you might just be built wierd seems like you have long legs and short arms like a T-REX. I have short legs and longer arms like a MONKEY. You can get cruise control on it with most aftermarket alarms now. All most all of ur complaints can be fix with simple mods and time. No car will ever be perfect Fit for any one thats life. But i hate to see all these complaints about the car every one bought. When 99% of them can be fixed very simpley. Maybe even try buying a aftermarket seat that might help i would love to get some bride seats in mine or Reco one day.

I was and it was a lot louder. Still, the Fit is louder than most other cars I've driven (96 Accord, 02 Forester, 05 Altima).

Yeah I've thought about doing that. I might just pick up a mirror for that purpose, it's such a cheap and easy fix.

True. I suppose what I meant is I feel like I have to "babysit" the car on the highway. Most cars I can rest my hands at 8 and 4 or even 7 and 5, palms down. With the Fit I basically have to hold my hands at 9 and 3, palms in. It is a more alert position, I agree, but it's more tiring.

I think it's just personal preference. I'm 6 feet; not sure how my arm length compares to my leg length. I just prefer having my arms more bent than my legs when I'm driving, and the Fit's driving position makes my legs more bent than my arms. The telescoping steering wheel on the newer model would likely fix or at least mitigate this problem for me. I almost wish I had waited a little longer to get the GE; I could have ordered one when I bought my GD but I liked the looks of the GD more and I didn't notice the driving position when I took it for a short test drive.

Yeah, this wasn't a specific complaint of mine since I know cruise is an option. Should have just gotten the sport but oh well, you live you learn. I was thinking of adding a Rostra kit which is about $300.

Well, the title of the thread is asking what I don't like so there you go, that's what I don't like. I'm not whining; I am still okay with my Fit, I just recognize its shortcomings.

What would an aftermarket seat even do? I don't like putting mods all over my car because they tend to be expensive and decrease its value. And from what I've heard, racing seats are pretty uncomfortable.

I have to come to the Escort's defense here. My 1993 Escort wagon has been really reliable and still going strong. Yes, it's not up today's design standards, doesn't even have an airbag, but in its day it was a competitive small car. Now, I also had a Pinto, inhereted from my parents as my first car. I agree, that was an unimpressive car!

Back on topic, my #1 gripe on the GE Fit is the hard, low driver door armrest, and the fact that I have to tilt the steering wheel down low so my elbow will contact the armrest, but then the top part of the wheel blocks the top of the speedometer and warning lights. If I could magically fix just one thing, that's it.

Mods yes do decrease the vlaue. But you don't buy a car thinking its going to keep its value. A car will always loose its value and will never be a good investment no matter how u look at it. All the cars u stated above are not cheap econo boxes like the fit they are all over $20k new unlike the Fit. Try to compare the Fit to cars in it's class. I beat if u go into a versu and than the Fit u would see what i am saying. The cars above have less noise due to them costing more. The Accord and Fit are in 2 way different catagories. U my friend are treating it like its in a Luxuary class but its not. It's in the econ class under $20k brand new. I know what this thread is but i just don't understand why so many people are comparing this with car in much better classes that cost more.

MY BIG COMPLAINT IS PAINT AS WELL. BUT THATS A HONDA THING

I can say windscreen glass. Just caught a chip. Luck of the draw, always surprises. No crack - slight divot...

I will say it was a loud bang when it hit. Old FIT echoes. Phew!

I have a GD and here's my listing of what I don't like about my Fit but did not mind of not having it:
1. More comfortable front seats.
2. More comfortable back seats.
3. Gas door lock.
4. Bigger wheel well so putting a 17" or 18's would do fine without rubbing just in case a person want to put these sizes of wheels(I don't mind my stock wheels and tires, I'm actually happy with it).
5. Alarm with shock sensor.
6. Factory floor mats should have been included.
7. Cargo cover should have been included.
8. Armrest should be standard for the Sport Models.
9. Should have 6th gear or taller gearing for better fuel economy.
10. Sunroof should have been a factory option.
11. Seats of the GD3's or even the GE8's from front seats to back seats to be laid flat just like the element seats.
12. A Hybrid Fit?
13. Factory Sunroof as factory option.

All of these while keeping the same price range.

-seat height.. and lack of height adjustment
-could use more side bolster
-no temp gauge
-passenger window should also have 1-touch operation (i like to operate them in pair... never ever drive with just a single window open)
-
most annoying: stock ipod control should support % skipping!!! ie, if i have 200 artists, it takes foreverrrrr to browse to "Notorious BIG" because it has to go through A-M. should be able to use numeric keys to skip to the 16%-32%-48%-54-etc percentile of any list

1. No Sun visor extensions
2. No 15inch Alloy option
3. Gas Door(purchased locking Gas Cap)
4. Rear view mirror seems a little too low to me
5. No map lights for base(adding them this weekend)
6. No cruise option for base
7. Keyless entry standard(quick fix though, thanks to fitfreak)
8. Roof spoiler too aggressive for me, would've liked 1 a little bit less aggressive like the Yaris'.
With all that said I love my Fit and have come up with solutions to most of the items listed.
