Talking 2008 MT Fits in Canada eligible for $1k ecoAuto rebate :)

Check it out - the 2008 Fits (manual transmission only) are eligible for the $1000 ecoAuto rebate as expected... sweet deal

2008 Model Year - Eligible Vehicles - ecoAUTO - Transport Canada

Unfortunately the auto transmission ones didn't have good enough fuel efficiency to fit within their cutoff or whatever (which is why Honda had a $750 factory rebate on the AT Fits since a few months back or whenever that offer had just started).

Anyway, pretty cool... I know a lot of us have been waiting for this for a while...

woot! i saw that yesterday.

if hcfi would offer finance/lease rates a bit closer to that of a civic that would be evemroe wicked. hopefully they'll have something better in their next promo after the current one runs out jan 2nd.

I got this rebate instantly when I bought my 2007 FiT a week ago. When you buy a 2008, you have to submit something and wait till the government gives you the 1000$, wich can take a large amount of time.

Yeah, because the 2007 Fits were like .1 litre/100km aboev the cutoff that the government set for the 2007 ecoAuto rebate, and Honda was pissed and offered that to make up for it as a statement about how lame it was that their car wasn't included. They then made the 2008 Fit just enough more efficient (or scammed the test results ) so that it would fit within that cutoff for this year.

Interesting, didn't know that it was because of that!

Yeah, it's still linked on the front page of honda.ca , at the lower left. Link to the page here: Honda Canada If you get the average of the fuel effiency of the 2007 Fit by adding the hwy/city fuel usage and divide by two (actually I think they take like 55% hwy, 45% city or something), you'll see it's like 0.1 or 0.2 L/100km above the Yaris for 2007. Do the same with the 2008 Fit and it's down to 6.5L/100km, just barely within the seemingly-arbitrary required amount for the rebate...
