E-brake boot broken... again.

I have an 07 fit sport and it seems that every time it gets really frigid out side (it was dipping as low as -10 this week in the midwest) the tongue of the plastic e-brake boot that covers the components breaks off. I had it replaced under warranty the first time, but it just happened again. This time I'm out of warranty. It's really annoying me that the stock boot on the e-brake is made from plastic instead of rubber. Has anyone else had this happen? Are there any after market boots out there that aren't plastic?

I had the same issue last winter with mine but my dealership replaced it with one that the tongue was rubber instead of the hard plastic.

Yup...happened to me really early on. I figured I'd get it fixed at some point, but never bothered.

Now that I am past the 50k mark, I'm not even thinking about it.

The thing that bothers me more is the lack of a dead pedal has led me to rub a hole in the carpet where I put my left foot...it's about as big as a softball now!

For the price and overall quality of the car...I really can't complain.

I believe the plastic piece he is referring to is the piece still used on the Mugen one as well. Least the part Im thinking I still had on mine.

The best solution would be a vacation home in a warmer climate.

I had an aunt that used to live in Chicago... after a few years she had enough of the winters and moved to Hawaii!
