The fit is called a jazz in Hong Kong. I almost forgot. However, it's called a fit in China, which disproves the theory fit = built in japan, jazz= built locally, since the chinese fit is built locally. The fit sedan, called aria elsewhere, is called Fit saloon.
In the small city I was in (meizhao) I know why the fit is popular now. 1) it's pretty big compared to a hatchback 2) it looks like a koi/ it's the least ugliest wagon there.
I also saw one car with a sticker. It was an intel inside style, but it reads "VTEC outside". And below the ring it says "we are i-DSI"
My uncle drives a honda City. The interior (esp the front) is practically the same as the fit, except it's leather and suede and [faux?] wood trims
The other common car is the oddessy, which is sportier. I think this is their equivalent to big trucks here. but 'm more okay with it because asians drive shorter distances, and because not everyone drives, a van is useful so it justifies the largeness. (I think only 20% of US truckers use the truck bed)

yea, when i was in hong kong, i saw both fits and jazzes. i just figured that hong kong got both because it used to be a british colony but i have no idea. also, the oddessy is a pretty rad car in china and japan. i rode in a few and every one was luxury.
i hate people that have huge trucks and never use them for what they are made for.
Usually it is. That's why I was surprise it was called fit saloon
To above posters, the city is a different car. It has no magic seats, less headroom, and gas tank is in the back not the front. In weizhao the fit saloon outnumbered the city while in meizhao the city outnumbered the saloon

They dont look that bad. I think I would drive one if they have it, unless it looks ugly in person lol. The back kind looks like a 8thGen Civic. 03-05 ones tho, 05- current looks horrible.

the back kinda looks weird. the way it curves down from the top looks like it "wants" to be a hatchback, but then straightens out to be a trunk.
I still don't know why people choose sedans over hatchbacks. Handling is better and more trunk space.
Can't let that one pass.... A sedan is more rigid than a hatchback and the center of gravity is much lower so sedans in stock form handle better than hatchbacks.

Are you sure? The cars meant for performance are technically hatchbacks, aren't they? Ferrarris, porshe (or all mid/rear engine cars), RSX. I was told the hatchback structure is more rigid and acts like those stability bars people sometimes add.
Unbeleiveable... I hope I'm not anywhere near you if you ever have the temerity to call any Ferrari or Porsche a HATCHBACK Jeeze there will be bullets flying and owners trying to kill you anyway they can.
If you look to the post topic (a post you started after all) and this being a Fit forum we we discussing the Fit sedan. But anyway like I said in the post SEDANS IN STOCK FORM handle better. The reason being with a FIT hatchback and most other fastbacks (not including any Ferrari's or Porsche's) the hatch is only bolted to the hinges and is free to move about except in the spot where the securing latch is. With a solid roof it is welded solid to the fenders and unibody sections (with the exception of the trunk and that is smaller than the hatch) so the whole structure is substantially more rigid.
Sooo true about people in Asia actually putting large cars to use. Nearly every van/SUV you see in China is actually filled with people unlike our 8 person Yukatahoburbelades carrying one 90lb suburban housewife.
