That is extremely high--do they have bad driving records?

Something is wrong here with your high rate. That $360.07/6 months includes my wife, son, and daughter. The numbers are higher on another vehicle we own, but we selfishly placed the kids' coverage on the oldest vehicle....

I pay 130 a month 500 deductible. I asked why is it so much to insure a cheap little car likr this. They told me because it is a new model here so there is not a hole lot of info on it yet. Which i could see because it has only been out here a couple of years.

Nope, none of us have had any accidents. My old car ('95 Altima) was around $600/6mo for liability. I've checked other insurance companies, it's even more expensive. My dad used to own the Altima and his insurance was even higher than me. It's crazy.

Ahh I just realized you live in NYC, crazy premiums man, I'm paying $1217 per six so I can't say mine is great either, and I just have one ticket on my record, been driving for 4 years too.

Mine is about 140.00 a month. 46 y/o, had one at fault accident 5 years ago. Also, I have not driven at all in the last three years, and I think somehow that actually hurt me (??)

Thanks for the replies. I found out Allstate gave me a $500 ded on collision instead of the $1000 that I asked for. Going to $1k ded on coll. will save me about $95 for 6 months and will drop my premium to around $450. I started checking rates, which I haven't done in a couple of years and I'm getting some quotes with a lot lower rates. I have 4 vehicles insured ('01 Mercedes SLK, '99 Jeep Wrangler (liability only), '01 F250 and my '08 Fit sport. Allstate is going to be around $1200 every 6 months, USAA around $950 and Progressive around $700 as long as I pay in one lump sum. Those rates are all with $1k ded on coll., $500 on comp. and 300k/100k liabiltiy. Now I'm somewhat torn between going with USAA or Progressive.

.
One piece of advice: find out from USAA and Progressive what you get in coverage especially on trial coverage where you may be sued.
If opposing participants in a wreck get wind you don't have insurance counsel they seem to come out everywhere, regardless of who's fault.

Leaving Allstate is a no-brainer; read CR.

I called yesterday to see what adding a Fit onto our existing policy would cost.

Comprehensive and Collision, Liability & Uninsured = $680/yr.
Just Liability and Uninsured Motorist = $344/yr.

To compare: For a Rav4

Full coverage = $654/yr
Liability & Uninsured = $344/yr.

We have State Farm and we get a good driver discount, a home and auto discount, and a "you've paid us so much over the years we could all buy second homes" discount. Well, OK, no discount for having paid so much for so long! In fact they just raised our home premium.

We just added our Fit to our State Farm policy;

6 mo. premium = $509.05

Liability Limits = 50/100/50
Personal Injury = $35,000
Comprehensive Deductible = $100
Collision Deductible = $250
Includes Emergency Roadside Assistance and Uninsured Driver.

This is for my husband and I, both 36 years old. Clean driving records and multi-policy discount.

Same coverage on our 1996 RAV4 is $560.98/6 months.

State Farm applied my 10-year accident free discount that I had on the RAV to the new Fit, and then added the old RAV as the "new" vehicle. Before swapping them out like that, the Fit would've been $721/6 mo. and the RAV would've been $482/6 mo. Saved us about $133/year.

I pay $200/6 Months Progressive

Full coverage with 250 deducible

Some comparisons:

Lexus IS350: $450
Subaru Sti: $400
Pilot: $400

As to service. I had a hit and run on my Lexus last year that ran about $1000 in damages. Simply drive the car to a center and pick it up fixed a few days later. Flawless service. Hell, they even fixed a small scratch I had on the rear bumper while they had it in the shop. Cant go wrong with that.

My current record (3 year) is

1 speeding ticket
2 non-fault accident ($1K each)

35 years old

$2200 a year for the Fit and $950 a year for the Matrix, NYC. 3 points on the license.

Because you are 18 years old. I assume you are male too. That is the group that has the most accidents. Have you had any tickets or accidents?

Your rate will go down as you get older and grow a brain. jk

i am male and i understand that male insurance rates are a lot higher than those of females but its kind of rediculous. only liability for 3k for 6 months.. excessive dont ya think?

i have had tickets but theyve been taken off my record. people on here with brand new fits that are 19 are like half of what im paying.
