Fit vs. Jazz towing capacity

I have a 2008 Fit Sport, and I'm looking to put a trailer hitch on it, primarily for a bike rack.

In the owner's manual, it states that the Fit is not rated for towing. What's interesting is that the European Jazz appears to be rated for about 450kg unbraked, and 1000kg (!) braked. I thought the Fit and the Jazz were the same car?

Does anyone know if the rear suspension on the Fit and the Jazz is different? Different shocks, springs, etc.?

Thanks...

iirc, they are a little different. different mounts for the suspension.

honda probably said no towing for the US fit because there'd be lawsuits out the asshole because of stupid drivers.

LOL Anyways, i think that you can tow a little, i think 1000kg is a little much. But people have towed atv's and junk.

I read here somewhere that the Jazz's (at least the uk version) rear suspension is very different and that the UK jazz can actually tow things and not void warranty. I cannot remember any details on who said it. sorry
