Cracked windshield covered under warranty?
So it was a great memorial day here in New York, i thought i'd go out and wash my car. Turned on the hose and put some water on the roof of the car and it trickled down onto the windshield, then THUMP.
The windshield developed a crack from the top of the windshield (right above the mirror) going straight down through the mirror stand and stops about halfway through the windshield. (its about 1 1/2 feet long and spans 6 inches wide)
Any chances that being covered under warranty? if not any one have any experience or suggestions with replacing the windshield?
Thanks
*EDIT* This is a 2009 honda fit

if it's a stress fracture it is typically covered under warranty.
easy way to tell is run your pen down the crack to make sure there are no impact point such as from a rock. if your pen tip catches then you're out of luck.

Unless you bought the car with cash, your insurance should also cover it, too. Here in Kentucky, comprehensive insurance covers the FULL cost of glass replacement and certain other safety related items. I lost a rear window in my old escort and got it fixed for nothing. Of course, I had to drive it back to KY from WV before I filed the claim...
Oh, and the car was titled and registered in South Carolina at the time. I was stationed on Ft. Knox.
Sucks having to deal with that, though.

Well after 2 trips to the honda dealer they finally determined that it is covered under warranty (thank god) however now it has to go in once more to actually have the windshield replaced
I'm happy that it is being replaced by warranty so i shouldn't really complain but the fact that it took them nearly 3 weeks to start replacing the windshield is just brutal

good work cpt.joo.
yah, 3wks is a bit harsh for a new car buyer treatment but dealers need to get approval from honda to get the parts and labor paid for...which could take some time.
especially if the dealer has no VIP status with the pen pushers at honda. hahaha. it should've been determined and repaired at the first visit.

Cracked windshield
A tiny pebble hit my windshield and it left an inch long mark, the next day it was over a foot long and kept spreading. Just had it replaced, insurance in RI does not cover glass. I don't feel that a pebble that tiny should have cracked the windshield. It is a problem among Fits.

cracked winshield
Oh, gee, I guess I was lucky, I only paid $220.50 installed. I only hope it doesn't happen again. I heard because of the size of the windshield which is large compared to the size of the car that this happens often. I love the car but I am not liking to have to keep replacing windshields. If it happens again I WILL be bringing it to the dealer.

That is just plain wrong.

Windshield not covered
Last weekend I was washing my car (2009 Honda Fit) and I heard a thump. I thought it came from a neighbor or something, not from my car. When I was whiping my windshield I noticed 3 big cracks originating from the bottom middle of my windhsield. I called Honda and they advised that if there are no points of impact, the replacement might be covered under warraty. I was relieved, my dad, myself and my boyfriend inspected the cracks and did not see any points of impact.
I took my car in today. I had to wait 45 minutes for a supervisor to inspect my car. After an hour of waiting i was approached by an agent not the supervisor and was told that a small nick was found in the middle of two of the cracks . We asked that they show this to us.
The supervisor came out and poked the "nick" with his pen several times, possibly making the '"nick" worst and bigger. He started off by saying that Honda is very careful and takes pride in their parts and that they would not pay for it. I started to think that the car should had been inspected in front of me to make sure that Honda didnt create the "nick" themselves, too late for that.
The next step would be for a Honda rep. to inspect it. I asked them to set up an appointment. They couldnt tell me when but they promised to call.
In the meantime I will look into taking my car to a Glass Specialist and get a second opinion.
THIS SUCKS

When a hot windshield is hit with cold water it isn't uncommon for the rapid change in temperature to cause the glass to crack. I've seen rear window defrosters crack rear windows when they've been left on too long.

What happened?
The same thing just happened to me. What ended up happening?

Im sure nothing came of it. Glass is something dealerships normaly will not cover, most case you an have free glass replacment on your insurance, usually a good idea to have
