Thule doesn't show any kayak accessories at this time for the fit. Has anyone hauled a kayak with the U.K. setup?

In case no one has noticed, the rack parts for the Fit are now listed on the Yakima site. Just click the "Choose My Rack" selection at the top of the page.

Bump for visibility, here's the price breakdown.

Q Towers
Part # 8000124 $135.00 USD

48" Cross-Bars
Part # 8000408 $54.00 USD

Q5 Clips
Part # 8000605 $29.00 USD

44" Fairing
Part # 8007048 $55.00 USD

SKS Lock Core Pack
Part #8007204 $43.00 USD

Total Price = $345.00, $3 more than the Thule, LOL

I think I'll get the Yakima since they're based in Oregon.

Yes. I haul kayaks with it all the time no problems. I just use the stackers that Thule sales here in the US.

^ Nice! I got a Yakima Skybox 16s that we can use on our Forester for snowboarding this winter. I'll wait until they have another sale on racks for the Fit, and then my wife and I can use the box on the Fit when camping

Does anyone have the specs for installing the Yakima rack? I have my old set from my Civic hatch-CRV, same bars, same towers, just need the clips and the instructions. Thanks.

Arrow

I would go by the local dealer and have them open one of the boxes that they come in and have them xerox the installaton instructions. If not that, then just tinker around with them. It is not to hard to figure out and you will know if you put them on wrong we before you use them.

I'd like to get a roof rack, but for the time being I have the foam blocks to tie down my kayak. My Fit is about a week old...if you've tried the foam blocks, did they do any damage to the paint on the roof?

Hi.

If anyone says no, they aren't looking very closely. Kayaks mean water/grit/sand, and those foam blocks will get some under them. And it'll damage the paint. It's like those new roof "bags" that you see on SUV's- I guess they just can't see up there, or will trade it in before the paint all comes off.

greygang is an unknown quantity at this point
Actually got a Honda guy who seemed to know something about weight on top of car. He said 130 lbs max.

I have an old Thule Summit box, it's 86" long. Thule said it would fit the Fit, but I would need all new rack system. (of course). I figure the rack system and box are about 50 - 60 lbs itself. That only leaves 60 lbs or so to put in the Summit box. If i believe this long a box will work on a little Fit. It worked on an Element, and an Odyssey...but i'm a little leary about the Fit.

Is anyone out there using a cargo box on their Fit? I rescue greyhounds, and so need someplace to put things when I've got the car full of dogs. So far I've fit 4 greyhounds in the Fit comfortably.

Why isn't Honda creating a roof rack for these guys?
