Something else I've noticed with the fans that seems unusual. The service manual seems to suggest that at below 199*F with a/c on only one fan should run. However, our two 09 Sport Fits both run both fans if you have a/c on when you first start the car (the coolant temp is well below 199*F). Does this happen for others? Maybe a US 'option'?

Both fans operate with the A/C. If the A/C is off only one fan will operate.

OK, thanks. On my Fit, under 204*F with no a/c neither fan runs, then at > 204*F they both run (from memory).

2trips is an unknown quantity at this point
I'm pretty sure the thermostat doesn't open until 170F.
I drove my fit from san diego to Utah a couple of weeks ago, and the hottest it got was about 210. that was with ambient temps at over 100, but the car was constantly getting good airflow.
The first time I climbed this one super-steep hill in first, the temp "soared" to 205 and I got so worried, lol.
