Question Door Activated Ceiling Light Not Working Properly?

OK...so I'm reading the owner's manual and on page 98 it describes what happens when the ceiling light is in the Door Activated (center position). The only thing I can get it to do is come on when I open the door and shut off when I close the door.

None of the rest of what it describes in the owner's manual happens:

* It does not come on when I just unlock the doors and tailgate with the key (I assume it means before I open the door, as a security measure).
* The light goes out as soon as the door is closed so, obviously, it does not stay on and fade out in about 30 seconds.
* It does not come on when I remove the key from the ignition switch so, again, it doesn't fade out after about 30 seconds if I don't open a door after removing the key from the ignition switch.

Is anyone else having the same experience?

Gordio,

I did flip the light switch to the center position for the Door Activated light...is there another switch I need to "flip"?

Is it a Base or a Sport Model?

I have a Fit Sport MT and the light works properly. Sorry about the bad news.
If you figure it out please let us know here.

It's a Base model, but the manual doesn't make a distinction between the two regarding the interior light.

It's the same for our Odyssey and our Fit. I'm not sure exactly what makes them go on and off but it seems to have something to do with voodoo.

Mine is the same, and I like it that way. I hate that shit where the light stays on after I close the door. My old car did that, and when I parkerd the car i would also wonder if I turned the light off.

According to the dealer, the 30-second delay features only apply if you have the keyless security system. He would be happy to install it on my Base Fit for $350, but since I've managed to survive for almost 50 driving years without it...that won't be happening!
