Removing Scratches in Window from Wiper

I bought my fit used a few months back and I could tell the lady who had it before me didn't know/care much about the car upkeep. One of the things is I'm pretty sure she was one of those people who would just leave the wipers on full speed whether it be the lightest of rain or a downpour and never changed out the blades. So now there's scratches in the windshield that I've seen in higher mileage cars in my 18000 mile (was 12000 when I got it) fit. They're pretty bad front and back and was wondering if anybody knows of anyway to get rid of them besides a replacement windshield? Any help is appreciated! Thanks guys!

Vince

Right after I got our Acura in 2002 I scratched the windshield at a gas station with the same paper towel I'd been using for years on our older cars. I think whatever they use on the outer layer of windshields must be extremely easy to scratch.

I used to use 0000 steel wool to clean glass. I hesitate to use it anymore. At least it cleaned all the grime out of the fine scratches. Still use it on our 1990 Miata, but that's all. Anybody have any up-to-date experience with steel wool?

Cheers.

Try this product, it really depends on the severity/depth of the scratches on how much of the scratch will be removed.
