Not really concerned about getting fuel stolen, Calgary is a pretty safe city. However, there are always hooligans out there (i.e. High School kids having house parties getting drunk or they are just morons and a-holes) who will vandalize your car. They might put something like sugar or something into your tank which would totally fuxxor your engine. A few years ago, a bunch of people in my area got their rims stolen, luckily for me, my P5 was in the garage. Don't always have this luxury now as my family has 3 cars and sometimes my Fit gets relegated to the outside. My last car was a smart car and it got egged once on my driveway, and someone stole my sub, but nothing else.

With the gas prices going up, I can see the amount of gas siphoning going up.
That gas cap with a lock better not freeze in the middle of the winter. I’ve had a few close run-ins with gas doors being frozen solid, still easier than a frozen lock.

It hasn't frozen on us before, we have the lock cap on 3 cars now. We went up to michigan with it during the winter and it was perfectly fine. the only bad thing is if you forget the key to it and your low on gas.. then ur having a problem
The local news just had a story on this the other day. While the locking gas cap will prevent people from adding stuff to your gas tank (like sugar), it won't keep them from stealing the gas. They've started puncturing the fuel tank from the underside of the car, and letting gravity do their work for them.
At least on the Fit, it'll take them a little longer to figure out where the gas tank is!

That's just scary...I was feeling happy because I got my locking fuel cap!
if you buy any locking gas cap you'll have 2 keys to contend with.
what b17gsr is saying is that with the OEM one, we can get it rekeyed to match the car key
Here's one for ya... I have my motorcycle key separate from the rest of my other keys. I don't want them to be swinging around and scratching the bike up.
It is kinda odd at first, but then it becomes second nature. Just have the gas cap keys by itself always in the car and another one on your usual key ring (for those times you pocketed the key in your pants/purse instead of in the car).
I keep my gas key in the car, on a lanyard (i.e. no scratch). Once I've unlocked/unscrewed the gas cap though, I remove the key from the cap. You don't have to have the key in the lock, in order to reinstall the locking cap.
