Keeping the seats clean

So I found out that the Fit's seats are lint magnets. This is bad news for my dog...any suggestion on how to keep the seats clean?

I know that the front seats should stay away from seat covers because of the side airbags. But since the back seats are foldable, you can't get generic seat covers for them either, any thoughts?

Lint roller is the only way to go really. See my girl here, she's a shedder and I have just a pillow cover on the seat part but there's still floating fur. If I'm gonna have friends ride, I just roll away the leftovers. The roller fits very conveniently in the center cupholder behind the parking brake.

The other side of the coin is my Lhasa Apso puppy, which doesn't shed her hair -- it grows and grows, which means I have to cut it every couple three months. My own haircuts are $8, not spending $35 on a mutt trim!! $35 will get me 400 miles in the Fit...

Ok, lint roller a must have.

I'm also thinking for now I might just put a towel or sheet to cover the back seats. Then I can easily take them off, put it in the cargo area when I have extra passengers.

Gee, in my old car, I just don't car, but with the Fit, I feel attached to it for some reasons.

Love the pets that get to ride in a Fit! I have 2 big dogs, one black (hair hides on the seats, shows up on the lint roller) and the other white. And I have rabbits -- I lint roller myself before I get in the car! A friend referred to dog hair on seats as "accessorizing." The velvety Fit fabric is nice, but forget about using a vacuum to collect pet hair! If they invent one, I'll buy it, but for now, a lint roller in the glove compartment is the way to go.

Thanks for the tip. I went out and got a lint roller today. Now, if I could just get my dog to ride in my Fit. The picking little guy will only ride in my parents' Odyssey. I don't remember if was on this board or not, but someone posted a tip about using Swiffer wipes to keep dust off the dash. I tried it and it works great.

Maybe you could leave a blanket or towel in the Odyssey, and after your dog lies on it and puts his scent on it, put it in your Fit. I've been throwing an old sheet over the seats to keep the pet hair under control, but that plush fabric is a magnet for whatever stray hairs it can gather.

Make a little lint roller by wraping masking tape around your hand loosely, backwards. cheaper than store bought hehe...

That's a great idea. I'll give it a try. Thanks!

She couldn't take care of it and shovelled it off on me -- kick @ss, free expensive doggy!

Anyways I just throw a towel on the front seat and she rides there on the way to/from the doggy park.

On a long trip my doggy puked all over the center console in my Jetta... yeah, luckily there was a towel right there within reach at 70mph...
