My mother called it a "soccer mom car" then proceeded to call it a "van". I was not happy.
Oh and a friend called it a "station wagon". Again, not happy.
I call my Fit "sexy"

I like the fact that it is titled as a station wagon, lower insurance rates.... No one has said anything derogatory but some out of his mind redneck that followed my wife into a store scolded her for driving such a "death trap".... She informed him that it was more capable of avoiding an accident than his pickup because of the low center of gravity, quick handling and shorter braking distance.. She also told him he was more likely to roll over in or be involved in an accident his truck.... I was proud of her.

"Station wagon" ain't so bad. Americans have this stigma about the term I guess, but the Fit really is categorized as one as far as the US motoring press seems to be concerned.
If it means humiliating SUVs in terms of loading big, bulky items, then heck yeah it's a station wagon.

I haven't heard anything negative nor positive really concerning mine. Though I've heard that it looks good and a little menacing. There are tons and tons of them in both generations roaming the streets here. This is my first car that I've owned that I have seen multitudes of it on a daily basis. All my previous Hondas were not seen very much on the roadways.
About the station wagon, that is exactly what it is. A 4 door hatch is considered a station wagon, even on my Japanese title it is listed as such. And as far as the deathtrap, that person should learn to do a little research and he would see that the Fit most likely has a much higher rating in crash tests compared to his pickup. Ignorance though runs rampant as do people's mouths.
