Maximum Roof Rack Of Honda Fit

Does anyone know the maximum roof rack for Honda Fit?? I may have just screwed up royally. I order the Thule roof rack for the Honda Jazz and it fits just fine. Unfortunately we have 2 kayaks weighing 50 lbs each plus the weight of the rack and Hull A Ports. I'm afraid we've exceeded the allowable weight of the roof.

I read somewhere that max roof load is 83lbs. That may be for the Jazz UK or Aus version. Glad to hear the Jazz rack fits the Fit, presumably a Thule?

Yes a Thule. How bad do you think it would be to exceed that 80 lb limit-probably will be 120 lbs if only driving 1/2 hr or so??

I would do it. The rack should be attatched secure enough to handle it for such a short time. 120lbs isn't a lot of weight. My element had a low weight limit and I think it must be a handling issue... making the vehicle more top heavy.

I agree. The weight limit is for predictive handling purposes. Just be more careful when you drive, don't try to take on twisting roads aggressively, and you should be fine.

Have a look on Thule website for the fitting instructions
I think the UK one was for 50kg (or 111 pounds)

The UK one is 37kgs, which is approximately 82lb. Since the roof is identical I guess it will be the same for the US one
