^ Can I have one? Minus the orange seats of course. :P Even though it looks like its all "look" upgrades and not really much in the performance if its at 120 ps. Come on honda. Drop an si K20 in there

if they bring the RS to the US i might get one to replace my GD.
but if not, im not sure wat im going to do yet. i might end up getting the MINI Clubman-s or watever they're called.

For some reason I dont think they will i was looking at a min cooper s for a while before i got this. But I think im sold on the Volvo c30 for my next car. Drove a friends the other day. That thing is amazing.

know any other boxy cars other than the xB? im not a fan of sedans so want either a coupe or boxy car with MT. it must have MT and more power than my GD.
#7
cool. but yah, i would probably consider the new GTI (wgn) if not the clubman. but the main issue is reliability with those vw's. they are so inconsistent it's crazy. one vw could be problemless and another one would be full of problems.

"Boxy": Cube :P , GTI (but reliability), C30.... hmm thats all i can think of in the way of boxy/hatchback.There really arent that many now that I think about it

Umm... Nope. Sorry!

hahaha. im pretty happy with my GD for now, but i want to have more power on the next dd i get. have to remember my kids are getting bigger and that means more weight i need to lug around. (them + watever they carry around)...
im going to begin using my G35C as my dd next warm season but intend to keep the Fit for winter driving. i use the G as my weekend touring car to carry my older kid around but my younger kid still stuggles to get in/out so just waiting for him to grow i guess. hahaha.

Funny thing is if you look at the engine specs on the RS, they are exactly the same as what we get on all U.S. Honda Fits, so save your drooling except for the 6MT and perhaps any relevant suspension upgrades.
But I am extremely passionate about getting a 6MT in the Fit. The car has pretty aggressive acceleration combined with fuel economy for the class. Add an extra gear without changing any of the remaining ratios significantly, and it would jump into the 40mpg realm fairly easily (or close to it) with a negligible decline in performance. Hyper milers and eco fanatics should consider this upgrade a must have if it could be done affordably (a big doubt, to be sure).

On second thought, the Fit RS wouldn't add anything to fuel economy as the gear ratio of sixth is the same as fifth here. Basically, first gear is a little bit shorter on the RS, second and fourth are exactly the same, third is a bit taller than on the U.S. Fit, and the RS gets a slightly shorter fifth than the RS sixth or the U.S. fifth. So we would still be buzzing along at 3500 RPMs at 75mph if we got an RS 6MT in the Fit here.

6 speeds
I have driven a 6-speed manual Kia Soul, and I did not like it at all. it just meant more shifting at lower speeds...it certainly did not add anything to the driving pleasure.
My Honda Fit 2008 5-speed manual is way more fun to drive.

This was an OLD thread hahaha
Unless they completely revamp the final drive in the new one... I wouldn't be surprised if they did considering all the whiny Americans that complain about the gears being too short in the press
When I drove the 6MT Versa I was kind of confused on the purpose of the 6th gear, was cruising in 5th and realized I had another gear and just put it in there out of novelty.

I know this is a very old thread, but CRZ gearing is probably what we want for economy, but launch would suffer. The assist motor on the hybrid makes up for the tall gearing in first.
CRZ Gear Ratios: 1st: 3.143, 2nd: 1.870, 3rd: 1.303, 4th: 1.054, 5th: 0.854, 6th: 0.689, Reverse: 3.307, Final Drive: 4.294
Tire size is identical to Fit Sport.

I'm looking at putting an LSD on my 2010 Fit Sport for improved winter traction (probably an MFactory or Quaife, knowing they aren't *ideal*) and while I'm pulling out and cracking open the transmission, I'm again wondering what could be done to reduce RPM @ highway speeds for better mileage.
Option 1:
Find a pair of gears to change 5th only (I have no idea where to start sourcing appropriate gears)
Option 2:
Taller final drive ratio (again, no idea where to find such a thing since most folks want shorter gearing, not taller)
Option 3:
Find an overseas 6-speed from a Fit RS & swap that in + a taller final drive (again, no idea how to find a 6sp box nor a taller final drive)
Option 4:
Install a CR-Z 6-speed (sounds like a major PITA)
I don't like my options at all. Anyone have anything encouraging to contribute?
Thanks,
Joel

Nope to all above.

Trade the Fit for an Insight.

Why LSD just for winter? I used to have a Sentra SE-R with a viscous LSD and when combined with studless snow tires, the car was an animal in the snow. I traded up to a Subaru Impreza 2.5 RS, then to an STi and those were of course incredibly effective in the snow but got terrible gas mileage (18mpg on the STi typically). My Fit gets about 34mpg and is our primary family car but the open diff (even with snow tires) isn't optimal for the snow. A helical diff like the Quaife/MFactory ought to improve snow traction under most conditions with the understanding that when there's zero grip for one tire, it'll spin just like an open diff (unlike the viscous LSD, clutch type or Wavetrac). Seems like there's an upside without much of a downside other than cost.
So, to make my fuel efficient family car a better snow car, I want an LSD. I'm sure I'll enjoy the additional benefits of the LSD for enthusiastic driving in non-snow conditions too but the Fit doesn't exactly have a surplus of power so that's a distant, secondary goal.

Your sport didn't come with VSA? Oh it's a 2010 no nav model?
If you've got the money for the LSD install I say go for it. I would have one right now if I could and I rarely see snow
Back to the MPG discussion, i'm assuming by highway speeds you mean 75mph+? The Fit gets excellent fuel mileage between 55 and 65 (70 is pushing it but still decent). If you want to get better mileage at higher speeds like that the Fit isn't the best choice unfortunately. There's been lots of discussions and speculations on here about a taller final drive, 4th, 5th gear changes, etc, but unfortunately I don't think at this time there are any donor gearsets for that.
