Windshield Wiper Broken

Last weekend when I washed my Fit the passenger wiper blade broke. A clip inside the blade broke and can not be fixed. I lifted the arm to dry the window and when I wiped the blade with the towel it snapped. I ordered a new blade and am waiting for its arrival hoping that I can get it covered under warranty. I just wanted to let you all know so that you can be careful when messing with the blades. I would think that they are more durable but I guess not.

Do you mean the wiper blade broke, or the wiper arm broke? I don't think wiper blades would be covered under warranty as they are considered wear items, the dealer might put up a fight about that - but if the arm itself broke, best of luck getting it fixed quickly.

Fit wipers are strange looking beasts. Can we even use aftermarket wiper blades? Couldn't you just go to the auto parts store and get a replacement temporarily? (even if we have to go to the dealer it couldn't be as bad as my friend's old Lotus Esprit Turbo that needed factory-only blades at over $100 ea!)

I agree. Yes it is the blade that broke not the arm. On a side note I realized that with the summer heat the rubber looks as if it is discolored a little (like dry rought rubber). not a big deal but it takes away from the overall look. Has anyone else noticed this?

something similar happened to me. i was washing my car on saturday and, while drying the back end, i guess i accidently hit the back wiper. or anyway, i don't really remember hitting it, but it did get a little messed up. the little black rectangle piece that holds in on was sticking out kind of funky, so my boyfriend went to take it off and after he put if back on there was a crack down the side. nothing near as bad as snapping the front one, though. bummer on that.

I think that the rear wiper blade is the only cheap feeling part on the car. It seems very fragile. I had a scare washing the car yesterday but it just made a scary noise and it is OK.

They are ugly, but are of low wind resistance....not like the open frame Bosch type.

Watch the rag on the rear wiper: I encountered the same but got lucky-no damage. I won't let that happen again.

do you think that would work for the back one as well? to the best of my knowledge, the damage is only cosmetic, but i wouldn't want something to go wrong in the future.

I don't see why not. My experience with warranties tells me that it really depends. No matter what do not be afraid to fight the dealership in order to have Honda cover it. It is also nice if thier is more than one dealership you can go to. Best of luck.

Even if the wipers start streaking in the first 12 months or 12,000 miles, they will replace them. That is what my salesman said when I asked about it.
