Well i had my first check engine light today, but it was only due to the accessory fuel cap, once i put the stock cap on and drove it awhile the check fuel cap warning went away, but the check engine light came on, so we just cleared the code, so i'll see if it comes back on again.
Happens alot with that gas cap...Gotta give it at least 5 clicks
5 clicks or more won't matter, been there, and have done that, and 2 weeks after i got gas it decided to come on!, now that's not exactly having to do with clicks, lol.
So you have an aftermarket gas cap, which causes the CEL to come on? Screwing it on past ~5 clicks doesn't help? The stock cap works fine?
Sounds like a bad aftermarket gas cap. See if you can exchange it or get a different one. Likely it's not sealing correctly, and you could be losing a little fuel (from evaporation) as a result.

Agreed. If the stock cap works fine, then it's the aftermarket one that is defective and it should not be used. It could possibly not be sealing and letting fuel vapors out of the gas cap = unsafe.
How many people know what one means when they say accessory, it means to me atleast teh OEM Acessory cap, not a aftermarket junk, the one i had was the OEM Accessory cap, which is why i use the term accessory, not aftermarket locking fuel cap.

I've seen too many aftermarket gas caps on Hondas. Hondas do not like aftermarket gascaps. I just replace the cap for the customer and the light never comes back on. I know you don't have one... Just stating something
And it can take a long time before the CEL will come on. If you make lots of short trips the computer does not have enough time to do all the tests it does on the EVAP system. But then when you make a longer trip say a week or two after you fill the light can come on.
