Exclamation Airbag Issue

I am a recent owner of a 07 honda fit, its been about 5000 miles and my front airbag light has come on and wont go off, havent taken it in yet but i think i should cause the manual says if the light is on , the airbag wont deploy in a crash. Just wondering if anybody has had this problem.

That light should represent the passenger front airbag, not the driver's seat. The manual states that it lights up if there is a weight detected on the front passenger seat but not heavy enough to activate the airbag.

This thread reminds me: Make sure you don't put heavy stuff on the passenger seat! A friend's new VW Beetle was T-boned and he said 3 airbags deployed. He was the only occupant and said he wished he hadn't put his heavy briefcase on the passenger seat beside him. He figured the sensor detected a passenger and overdid it on the airbag deployment. The violence of the airbags and the white powder in the air was in his opinion more than was necessary.

Some times it has to deal with weight on the seat. If i put a bag on the front pas. seat, the light will go on.

Not good.

Better get it checked up by the dealer. Or you can try putting the stock intake back on and see if that fixes it.

i agree, put you stock intake back on and take it to the dealer. when you get a car that has warranty, use the hell out of it. maybe the weight sensor is faulty or got loose somehow.

Well I made an appointment and spent the night before installing the stock intake back in to take to the dealer, and as soon as I was done, the airbag light went off!

It was the Fujita intake that set the light off but I can't figure out why! I am wondering if anybody else has had this issue but I don't think I can know if its hitting anything without taking the bumper off. It is the CAI for the manual.

Any ideas?

Just to clear it up though, it is not the orange pass airbag light on the dash...it is the driver airbag light in the gauges

I would look where the intake leads to...is there a airbag sensor down by any tubing/filter? The CAI could be hitting it or of some sorts.

At my first oil change the dealer is going to look at my car about something similar. On the instrument cluster the side air bag has lit up twice... There is an information box that records data related to the event in addition to documenting the light turned on so, Honda tells me. Keep us posted and I will do the same. My oil service should be soon.

Yeah so I reinstalled the air filter. While I installed it, I managed to take a peek up the bumper to see what it was touching. It was the airbag sensor and the tolerances are very close. I reinstalled it with adjusting the filter as far way form the sensor(about half an inch) in hopes that it wont trigger the sensor again. I am suprised there arent a lot of other fujita owners with this problem. If you look where the filter ends up, it is a hair away from the sensor! Im gonna continue to rock the CAI with my fingers crossed...otherwise im gettin the aj-racing carbon one, that one looks pretty sick!
