Inexpensive (but effective) Bike Racks?

My girlfriend has a Fit that she loves but she's obsessively frugal and the idea of spending $150 (or more) on a bike rack is just not going to fly. She's willing to just contort the bikes into the fit and that's a mess to deal with.

I'm wondering if anyone has any experience with bike racks for the Fit and if they can be had for under $100?

For example, there's this one on ebay:

3 BIKE TAILGATE TRUNK MOUNT SUV TRAVEL CARRIER BICYCLE RACK_4 | eBay

You've got 3 choices. a janky rack that mounts on the decklid and has straps and hooks that will tear up your paint and render your rear hatch useless, a very expensive and hard to use roof rack and fairing and bike rack attachments that will decrease your mileage dramatically, and a hitch and rack combo that is around $130 for the hitch and rack from etrailer. the hitch and rack is easy to install and when she doesn't want to carry bikes, she can pull the rack off and it was like it was never there. There is also NOTHING touching the paint of the car, so no way to damage anything. Your mileage will not be decreased because there's no(t much, if any) wind behind your hatch.

The hitch approach sounds like the way to go. I'll look at eTrailer. I hadn't heard of them before. Thanks. BTW, any idea on a link? There seem to be all sorts of different types.

Hanging Hitch Bike Racks, Platform Hitch Bike Racks, Tilt-Away Hitch Bike Racks, Swing-Away Hitch Bike Racks, Towing Bike Racks, Fixed Bike Racks.

I'd do the picture but we're talking two to three bikes so even that doesn't work.

Hey Sol, do you know if the 2012 Fits have available hitches? I want a hitch because it's more versatile (I can tow my motorcycle if I want to in the future).

Definitely want something low key and not stupid looking. Have closeups of yours?
