Will a couch Fit?

Will a couch Fit?
I am buying a couch off craigslist that is only 0.7 miles away. Does anyone think it will fit in my Fit?
As long as it slides in close to half way, I should be fine, right?
Does anybody know how tall/wide the opening actually is on the hatch? (I'm at my desk and can't measure right now)
It's a full size couch, but I am not exactly sure on the dimensions yet.
Thanks for the help!
If it doesn't fit, I am going to wheel it on a dolley down the streets of downtown Milwaukee...

I doubt it will. The one drawback to the great cargo space the Fit offers, in my experience, is that somewhat narrow opening to the back hatch (especially in relation to the space offered inside). The way it tapers at the bottom has kept me from getting a few things in there that technically fit inside the car.
So did it?

It might... does the couch have an exposed wooden frame, or is it bulky? I would bet that a lot of antique couches would work just fine.
Otherwise just go to Home Depot and rent their truck for $30. Sometimes it is amazing to cram stuff into the Fit... other times its better not to risk scratching up the car and the cargo that you are trying to transport.
