While cool, those are not really for infants. The second one you posted is a booster seat.
Get a regular traditional seat for infant and wait to get the cool Recaros until the kid is a little bigger (like 20lbs+). I can't find the first seat you posted anywhere though, not even on Recaro's website.
Congrats BTW

you'll need a backfacing one for the first 3months or so which i recommend you get something readily available locally that also has an attachment carrier you can buy separately to make it into a stroller.
i have two recaro young-sports in my 09 GE and two recaro vivo boosters in my '12 GE. and one vivo in my G35C in the back.
the young sport costs more than other child seats, but imho well worth the price. first is the ease of mounting/dismounting to the car. the anchor buckles are smart on the recaro's. very easy and quick. the side bolsters are big and head bolstser are very supportive.
GL with your new baby.

kenchan, could easily be true!
I was on the phone before so I didn't give a full response. Anyway, they ARE now saying rear facing is best. In fact it's best for adults too. It just distributes the crash energy across the entire seat rather than just a belt. But at some point the kids legs look really absurd sticking up into the air and you gotta rotate them.

yah, that makes sense.
the recaro vivo's in my '12 GE are more convenient though in a way i can easily flip one over and stack it on the other seat when i need to fold the rear seat to carry large cargo. no anchor buckles to worry about either. something to think about if kids are older and have multiple cars. they're cheap too, like $80-90 or something vs $250 or watever i paid for the young-sport.
