Looking to buy new Fit.. should I wait ?

Hi
I'm in the DC metro area, looking to buy a new Honda Fit, with these features :
- NEW (no used)
- CVT (no manual)
- LX (no options)

These are negotiable, based on price:
- YELLOW (blue or silver ok)
- 2016 (2015 ok)
- DISTANCE (50 mile radius ok)

There are 15 dealers around here, but the inventory seems quite thin.

I heard 2016 Fit is Japan-manufactured, so it could take couple months to stock up. But there are tons of Civics which dealers are trying to push with very low price.

Should I wait a couple of months for more Fits? Will I get a better bargain then or it doesn't matter? When is the best time to buy a Fit ? Or should I just go with a Civic?
I have an old Accord that I'd like to replace soon.

You'll get the best price on a 2015 as new Fits will sell at or close to MSRP. Why the distance limit of 50 miles? If I was in your shoes I would shop a lot farther than that! If you sell your car instead of trading it in you can get your best price on the new Fit a lot easier by contacting the Internet Sales department at all the dealerships that have the car you want. There is a lot of websites you can look at that will give you good strategies for a Internet buy. And if you can get finaced before you buy at your bank or credit union it's even better. I'll bet you could get a EX CVT rather than a LX if you took the time it takes to get a great deal. But one thing for sure if you don't fight for it you won't get it. .

I just got back from a dealership. They were willing to sell a 2016 LX CVT Fit for $18000, but it was over my budget (17500 max), so I walked out.

2016 LX CVT FIT's MSRP is $17,250 which includes destination & handling fees (~$800). What would be a great deal (out-of-the-door price, including taxes, fees etc.) for this ?

Yes, I'm planning to sell my accord separately, not trade in.
Yes, I'm planning to buy it full in cash, no financing.

I'm fine with a 2015 Fit too and I'm open to more than 50 miles.
But there are very few 2015 Fit's in this area. What would be a great deal price for 2015 Fit?

Wait, isn't MSRP for the 2016 LX CVT $17,410 including destination (and excluding any dealer add-ons)?

MSRP is just a suggestion. Price may vary based on the dealer.

I would imagine your financing would matter just as much as the 'sticker' price. I always suggest buying a new car when they are pushing out the new model. So the 'old stock' 2015 models that are sitting around are likely going to be cheaper than the newer 2016 models despite still being a brand new vehicle.

I would never consider a base model Civic over any Fit. I would, however, consider a Civic Si or the Type R if it ever makes it stateside. But those are much different machines than either the base Civic or the Fit and you are cutting your fuel economy by over 25% most likely.
