Paint

In my attempts to keep my paint perfect, I managed to screw up my hood. It apparently can't be wet sanded as easily as a Harley tank and I think I may have to have my hood repainted.

Can you guys give me a rough ball park idea as to what it would cost to have just the hood painted? All the body shops are closed on the weekend.

It's actually not bad in the sunlight but a complete wreck with the lights of the garage. Will take pics in a few minutes.

And the thing is, I know what what I am doing. Here are my results from wet sanding my Harley after a mishap. And I removed most of the dent!

well, looks like the clear coat is off. so nothing to wet sand.... ur harley probably has more layers of clear coat than honda paint. those spots look like my accord's paint. all most of the clear coat is peeling and coming off.

not sure, but if the paint underneath is intact, maybe u can pay a shop just to clear coat it. i hear if u try to get them to do it when they are clear coating someone else's stuff u can get it real cheap provided u do all the prep yourself.

How about try ont to buy that extensive clear coat in a can? Not the cheap kind You get from Walmart but the kind that has a little plunger in the bottom you dépressif to "activate" the clear coat. I think a can is Woerth 50$. With a can of that and some buffing you night be able to fix it?

its 30 bucks for the can. i have one sitting in a box right now. problem is the clear coat may not match the rest. Maybe with this idea you can rough up the the whole hood with 1000 grit. Spray 4-5 layers. sand down. u get the idea. Might cost u more than one can though.

You can respray the hood with clearcoat but the prep has to be done correctly.

I think I'm just going to have the hood repainted. So far I've had two different estimates and they were both around $300.
