On the fence: '07 GD3 or '10 GE8??
So I plan on buying my first Fit mostly for reliability and commuting to college but I'm not sure which to choose! There's an '07 GD3 Sport w/ 48,000 miles what I saw for around $8,500 but there's also a '10 GE8 Sport inc. Nav w/ 65,000 miles, with around the same price, that caught my eye too! This is such a difficult choice. I like the GD3 exterior more but favor the GE8 interior. Also, the GE8 looks great with the ambient blue footwell, space-y digital clock and LED door sill mods (I couldn't find GD3 LED door sills anywhere). Point is, should I sacrifice the miles for a newer model, or should I stick with the low milage GD3 and sacrifice my customization options for my fit down the road??

Well with GE8 don't forget you get little things like USB. But the big thing is it has "REAL" VTEC. The GD has a VTEC-E system. The back seats fold without having to remove the back headrest on the GE. This must be done on GD.

If you're just looking for a car to leavr stock and get okay mileage either will do very well.

Oh? Please clarify...
How is the GE8 not real VTEC when it switches between low- and high-speed intake cams? Unless it has to have exhaust VTEC too (not as important as the intake side) to be "real" VTEC...
In contrast the GD3 just turns one of the two intake valves off & on...

Then you have a lot to learn. The 1st Gen VTEC on goes 12v to 16v. This is VTEC-E. All other VTEC motors are VTEC on the intake cam only (K24, L15 2nd Gen, J30/32/35) all have VTEC on intake cam. The 1st Gen fit has a normal camshaft unlike the 2nd Gen 3 lobe cam.

Agreed.

Ok you went way off the hinges guys. No one ever said the GE had a hi performance engine. That said stock dyno curve are drastically different. I was just giving him information to add to the new members decision. These motors mean the GE needs less effort (partial throttle) than the GD. Listen, I love both. The GD is the most "raw". Kind of in the way an Integra GS-R is to a RSX-S. Also since it's a commutor car, the GE is a quieter ride at 65mph plus. Again im just sharing why I would go for which. Congrats to the OP for new purchase.
