What's the best and easiest aluminum Polish for an exhaust?
Hi guys,
I just became the lucky owner of a members Tanabe Medallion Touring exhaust. It's slightly discolored from eat and wintery weather up north. I wanted to give it a Polish to clean it up. I'm not expecting freshly out of the box look but just a uniform shine. What polishes do u guys recommend? I plan to take my time. Days if it takes. I don't rush through things Thank you for your help.

Pinnacle Exhaust Cleaner & Brightener
Very quick, very easy. It won't take you days... Just about 3 minutes.
You'll also want to apply it with the Lake Country Exhaust Polishing Sponge: Lake Country Exhaust Polishing Sponge

It's not an OTC product.
Pinnacle Exhaust Cleaner & Brightener
Lake Country Exhaust Polishing Sponge
It's all I use on my customers vehicles (with stainless/chrome exhaust tips) and other chrome/stainless parts.

That's a good question. The blue tint is done via gas flame which heats and discolors the stainless steel correct?

That's correct, after receiving my Greddy SE used from a forum member I tried to clean it up just a little before putting it on my car and with a 1 to 8 ratio of simple green, I notice it'll still discolor it slightly with light cleaning

So, the blue tint (via gas flame) is oxide on the stainless steel. Any type of polish will remove what it is you've achieved with the flame. So you would NOT want to use an exhaust tip cleaner, stainless steel cleaner, polish, abrasive, or 0000 stainless wool.
Simply Green (APC's) are alkaline, however, diluting it with distilled water will balance the pH. However, the alkalinity over time may remove the effect you have achieved, as you have already stated.
The preference would be to switch to a QD (quick detailer) any car wash, rinseless, waterless, (non-ammonia) glass cleaner. If it were me, I'd probably clean them with my Megs D114 Rinsless Wash Solution (1:128 dilution) followed with a wipe down of my favorite QD, Pinnacle Chrystal Mist (which contains a polymer/carrinuba blend).
Hope this helps!

Someone advised me to use this and man does it work good. I I advise all of u to give this product a shot. If any questions hit me up. It's soaked in cotton so no need for and applicator. Just a dry cloth to buff the metal. One application was all it too. To bring the used Tanabe Medallion Touring exhaust to look like new.

griot's metal polish.
i wear disposable gloves and just apply using soft paper towels. the last few polishing cycles u can use a soft cloth if u're anal.

I was about to suggest Nevr-Dull, too. I used to use it on my fully polished stainless DC Sports cat-back exhaust on my last Civic. My late father had introduced it to me. He used to use it on his sailboat and Corvettes back in the day.
Nevr-Dull does a great job removing a lot of the oxidation that shows up too. I recently used it to clean up a used bicycle I bought for my son. The wheels had become covered in rusty spots and this stuff got almost all of it off.
Highly recommended!
