What A Pain in The Arse

The dealer isn't wrong though, most people never check the spare tire pressure, when in the service department I would say 95% of the time the spare on trade ins were either low on pressure, flat or missing entirely.
Of course spare tires are not included on a lot of new econo cars so I suppose at least honda included one.

According to new research from AAA, nearly 28 percent of 2017 model-year vehicles do not come with a spare tire as standard equipment. In 2016 alone, AAA rescued more than 450,000 members who had a flat tire, but were in a car that didn’t have a spare.

My simplified approach is to keep a 12V air pump in the car at all times.
This allows me to manage the pressure in my 4 tires anytime and anywhere + the added benefit of being able to pump up the spare tire only and only if I need to use it.
For long term tire storage (ie. spare tire or even when storing the winter/all-season tires) it's recommended to keep them slightly under-inflated.
The cheap $15 pump lasted almost 10 years of "living in the trunk" before I smashed the 12V plug by mistake (the pump was still working) so I upgraded to a $50 air pump that is better built (more metal, less plastic) and includes a built-in flashlight.

My 2013 FIT EV has the repair kit and a nice little compressor instead of a spare, its to save weight and make room for the battery pack.. I tested it my GD spare it fits but then I lose the storage space of the charger that is in the hole with the patch kit and the compressor.
